1.10 update before PS3 system update... Problem?

So I left Bob remote racing all night, and in the morning there was the message that I had to download and install 1.10. Having done that GT5 started up again all by itself. I then read the update notice, and one of the first things it says is "Please update the system software to 3.65 before installing the update"! Which of course I hadn't done. Immediately quit GT5 and set about doing that. Is this a problem?

That's weird, according to Sony 3.65 is optional...

i could not boot up gt5 after 1.10 and ps3 firmware 3.65 updates.It says i have insufficient hdd space and i need at least 32mb to proceed.I have check through system information and i have 100gb of free space and my save file is about 400kb.Anybody facing these issue?

same issue with me. I did both updates and now I can't get into the game.
