I noticed most PVC cockpits are built out of 2" PVC. Has anyone tried to use
1-1/2" PVC or is it not strong enough.

A quick hint, some PVC fittings are marked in 15 degree marking around the throat and it makes fitting the cockpit a lot easier because most fitting are angled in 15 degree increments.

Most likely to prevent wobble but I think 1" could work as well in the right spots.

The 1.5" would be sturdy enough but you could expect some more wobble in the frame versus using the 2". In particular the supports that come from the floor and pedal tray to the wheel mount area. The 2" that I used does flex slightly side to side with the T500 mounted where it didn't with the DFP. The sturdiness shouldn't be affected by the narrowed pipe but the rigidity probably will be without additional bracing.

Hey there, check out my thread here:

I have used 40mm PVC tubing and it works a treat, I need to update the photos because I have made a few alterations to the size and positioning of the pedals.

I had to add rubber door stops underneath the frame to stop it slipping on my carpet when I hit the brake but got no problems with stability.

Hope it helps, il let you know when I have posted up to date pics.
