I seem to remember getting some sort of Lotus Esprit, we (Me and a mate) fully modded it, and got it up to I think around 1,048 BHP. Sadly, I was a fool and canned GT3 when my PS2 broke down. So, which variant was it? Is it available in GT5? Can I still get that kind of power?

Its also worth noting that it ISNT the one from the new car dealer, which i tried already.

No all the cars are toned down. I quit playing and switched to GT4 for that and many other reasons.

max HP out of a lotus is a bit over 700, in gt4 its 950 or so i think.

Only car you can tune to above 1000 BHP is the Viper ACR, to my knowledge. X1 doesnt count.

It's the standared model Lotus Esprit 350 , not sure how high this can be tuned on GT5 but it's a sweet ride

Speed 12, Merc SL65, Minolta, Sauber c9, R89, r92, Pescarolo Hybride, Escudo, XJR9 and probably more.

all go above 1000 WHP.

max Hp doesnt mean best performance.... i dont understand why you would want so much BHP?

Yep, agree with the above 100%.

Try racing the Esprit 350 against other road cars when each has the same power to weight ratio and tyres, the 350 is an excellent car.

I run a race sries with friends, one class is 384bhp and 1100kgs, sports soft tyres, this 350 is one of the top cars in the class, it can kick serious butt, but it's not unbeatable though, just very, very good.

Only downside is that 5 speed gearbox....grrrrr..

SL600 can be modified to over 1000hp, SL65 falls just short.

I know that more power doesnt mean faster, but it was a laugh to drive that thing. Thanks for the answers.

You sir, are wrong X 1,000,000.
Many cars besides the X1 can be fully-tuned to have more than 1000HP, as previously mentioned. :)

Hes talking about street cars, not these prototype and racecars like, x1, TVR, Veyron. The cars are tuned down for some odd reason. Cars that in real life are more tunable have less hp, and cars that are hard to tune to high hp, have high hp in this game. The hp range isnt realistic in this game. The supra should have over 725 hp, when the sl65 or sl600 should have like 750, because in real life thats what you get when you uppgrade the turbos on this v12 cars. The Brabus sl65 have like 700-800 hp v12, and that isnt even close to the 1000 that you get in this game. You never will see a sl65 or sl600 woth 1000 hp in real life, to much stress on the motor, and no campanies sell parts needed for that.

not going to argue specific cases but one can in general say what kind of potential HP an engine has based on some basic info: displacement and configuration, cylinder head design, compression ratio, aspiration and fuel type.
So the real question is:
is it realistic to push engine performance for road race cars into the drag race only area..which is another way of saying WOT operation without regard to throttle response, torque? not to mention shortening the engines life to the point where it might not finish a single race? I think thats what you see in the big displacement american V-8s in the game, with a lot of the euro engines they get their power from forced induction and can therefore have big HP numbers AND still retain a decent, usable powerband.
