I noticed today that the back of the case for Gran Turismo 5 says "Customize, race and upgrade over 1000 detailed cars...". I know that there are standard cars that are actually very well done but I don't think that over all there are 1000 cars that can be considered detailed!
For example:http://furiousfanboys.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/gt5_03.jpg , http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/5127/94457745.jpg .

So maybe they shouldn't have said that. I know, there isn't much point to this thread so whatever!

That's where you are shortly mistaken. . . Standard cars are just as detailed from the outside as Premium's, just not as good, "Condition". I suppose they did mean the detailing of things a real car has. If that's what they were on about, I would have to say,all cars in the game ARE detailed.

This. Even though many standard cars are pixelated, they're still enough or more than enough as detailed as to their real-life counterparts. PD even updated certain standard cars that had extreme pixelation after recent updates, like that Suzuki ALTO WORKS for example. Numerous standard cars are even almost as detailed as the premium cars in terms of exterior appearance.

I agree with you dude if "1000 and detail" are in the same sentence I would expect 1000 cars to be of equal standard. I love me my GT5 but PD does not get a pass on this one. They knew it was exaggerated advertising and the word "detail" is used very loosely in their claim.

there is another one too
at one point (i dont know about know) it said you canon the gt5p website, it says

Head Start on Gran Turismo 5 -- Get a jump on the competition. You can transfer your Gran Turismo 5 Prologue progress to Gran Turismo 5 when it releases.

They did this sort of thing in the past.
You can transfer stuff from GTPSP (terrible game - where's the career mode?) but it can only be used in Arcade, and who the freak plays that?

They probably haven't updated that site in a year, but they should fix that. I was able to transfer all of my GTPSP cars to the arcade garage. Not that I ever even started arcade mode after transfering the cars, but they are there just in case I do.

It seems like everyone's trying to get technical with this but I do agree that what they said was a tad bit misleading! ;)

Ryou

Um, you realize the standard cars are imported straight from past GT games with no new or improved details given? Even the Veyron and new Jaguar look like there from GT4. The standard cars should only be considered detailed in the game they originated from.

They fixed a glitch (and they didn't fix it for all of the cars that suffer from it) that made certain cars look worse than they did in previous games. They didn't, strictly speaking, "update" anything.

It doesn't specify "visual" detail. It could also refer to the detail in performance specs.
If it was referring to 1000 cars with detailed performance specs, than the number is still well short because a lot of the Standards are wrong in that regard as well.
