OK, so heres the issue.

Been playing GT5 with no issues what so ever, all the updates have been installed with no issues, blah blah blah.

Well, the recent update caused GT5 to "Hang" in the menu screen area of the game. If I selected Arcade Mode or GT Mode it would just freeze up....

I UN-installed the game data, not the actual saved game data.

In safe mode said the HD was corrupted so I fixed that be doing what ever the PS3 indicated.

In safe mode I also repaired the File Directory or something like that.

Started GT5 again, it forced me to re-install all of the game updates, which I did.

Now, when I go to actually install the game onto my HD to reduce load times, it hangs at 11, 5, 3 seconds left each time I have tried the process, it will never fully install the game on the HD, which I think it is leaving an incomplete set of files on the HD, corrupting it? I can play some aspects of the game, as installing the full game isn't a requirement, it only helps with load times, yet there are aspects of the game that I cannot do, and when I select them, the game hangs up and I need to re-start, if I try to do the same action it hangs....Specifically if I go to take delivery of the 15 cars in my Car Delivery area it hangs and I have to restart.

It only appears to be an issue with this game as my Buddy played Uncharted 3 the other night for hours without issues.

I do notice my HD/PS3 High Speed Setting on the Fan came on during his gaming, and it has been doing that the last few months randomly, seemingly an irregularity as it never did that.

I also installed a 500GB HD sometime ago, but never had an issue, not even with GT5, it seems it was the latest GT5's patch?

Any ideas?

From my experience, if the internet connection is not very strong the game update may have some kind of problems. For me connecting the dsl cable directly to the ps3 did the trick for me. Everything seems to work normal for me.
