Are you kidding?
http://www.worldcarfans.com/9080916.004/leaked-bugatti-memo-says-1350hp-veyron-gt-on-the-way

According to an alleged leaked memo, Bugatti is planning to offer a special last-run edition called the Veyron GT. The focal point of the package is an engine upgrade raising the already astonishing 987hp to an unbelievable (literally) 1350hp (1,007kW) and 1,018lb-ft (1,380Nm) of torque resulting in a new top speed of 425km/h (264 mph). That's a 36% increase in power. As a result, in order for the Veyron GT to cope with the increased performance, a few items are upgraded. They include carbon-ceramic brakes, revised Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and a new active aerodynamics package which lowers ground clearance, adjusts rear spoiler and open/closes lids. The alleged memo states the Veyron GT now achieves 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.4 seconds and back down to zero even faster in just 2.2 seconds. Furthermore, all existing Veyron vehicles can be upgraded to GT specs. If true, the Veyron GT is stated to start deliveries in March 2009, which coincides with the Geneva Motor Show for a possible debut.

I call shenanigans. There is no way a car that mental can exist. I'm intrigued as to how the braking ability shot up so high as well.

It looks fake, as if a 14-year-old typed it up: Why would an internal memo use so many superfluous words, if it was neither grammatically correct nor carefully prepared for media use? And a "Confidential" memo is not likely to have a logo in the letterhead.

Don't get me wrong, it's not as if Bugatti couldn't make it happen (although it's doubtful that a car like this would find that many buyers), but this memo just looks super-cheesy all around.

Apparently a lot of Existing Veyron owners were upset about the extra targa versions they've decided to make on top of the 300 or 400 Veyrons they originally said they would make. They are not going to be any happier about this news. I thought the targa versions were also stated to be available from 2010 when the production run of the 'normal' versions was due to end. How will they shoe-horn these GT ones in for 2009? :odd:

Why would a French based German owned company send an internal memo in English???

Apart from the performance figures, the specifications listed are what the Veyron already has. :odd:

I'm not sure, the glovebox and ashtray are already filled with turbos. Where else can they slot one?

The brevity, level of disclosure and language hint that it could have been distributed to the dealer network.

There is a Bugatti dealer network?

I thought you had to know a secret handshake and be a part of the Skull & Bones society to get in...

No that's Bristol, they're the company where you don't get a car if the owner doesn't like the look of you.

Very dubious. Aside from the dreadful looking 'Secret and confidential' (which is a phrase more akin to a memo created in a 7 year old's treehouse) document, I can't see them being able to squeeze that much more power out of it anyway. They pushed the limit enough with the standard Veyron (presumably now called the "Veyron LX") ffs.

They'll probably just stick a Type R badge on the back and leave it at that.

This memo, eh I don't know. But the 1350 Hp version of the veyron is nothing new - car magazines here in Germany talk about it all the time ( rumors )...
