History:This Mercedes 300 SLR dominated the sports car world in 1955. The car finished 1st and 2nd at the 1955 Mille Miglia. This 1st place car was driven by Sterling Moss averaging 157.65 km/h (97.96 mph) over 1,600 km (990 mi). The 2nd place car was piloted by another racing great, Juan Manuel Fangio. The car later placed another 1st and 2nd place win at Targa Florio of the same year. This caused Mercedes to win the 1955 World Sportscar Championship. However the car was involved in the deadliest racing crash in history when it slammed into another car. The Mercedes' engine was dislodged from the car and killed 82 spectators. The cars crash overshadowed its outstanding racing history making this historic sportscar forgotten.

  • YOUR SUGGESTION MUST BE AS SPECIFIC AS POSSIBLE.
  • Car suggestions must include the MAKE, MODEL, and YEAR (if relevant), in that order.
Besides you want the 722 the most, you've already said ;)

:banghead: Once again. It is only a consideration. The history I have included in the thread relates to all of the 300 SLRs not just the 722 car. If people are confused they can read this conversation which obviously has clarified what it's for, or read the changed "consideration" message at the top.

Yes, but threads have to be about one specific car. They can't be "considerations".

It is clearly stated what this thread is for in numerous places. This is the last time I'm responding on the topic of what car the thread is for. 99% of people in the forums will know what this thread is and so far 40 people haven't been confused. If more people had asked this before I would have changed it but since this is the first and only time in the 5 months this thread has been posted, it stays.
