Amazing! I was invited to see a local personal car collection and guess what I saw... the 1965 Alfa Romeo GIULIA TZ2 carrozzata da ZAGATO CN.AR750106 '65. It is in the personal museum car collection of General William Lyon. This was the exact car that won the Gran Turismo award at Pebble Beach and was scanned for GT5 (and is in GT6).

Here are a couple of photos I took while at the museum. The gentleman in the blue shirt is Bill Lyon, General William Lyon's son. He told stories of the car and said it was quite loud. I was amazed at the collection and found it quite fun to see such a car from Gran Turismo.

Has anyone else seen such unique cars from Gran Turismo? Do tell.

You're sooo lucky ... Loved this car in GT5 ... Haven't bought it yet in GT6 ... BTW it looks amazing in black, in the game.

I bought one..... But later I sold it. Don't hate me. :scared:

However I still have it in GT5 though. :sly:

Just brilliant. I imagine he didn't start it up, did he? I'd love to hear it from up close.

Love this car in GT, awesome you got to see it!
How was Mr Lyon? :O
General Lyon, by all appearances, seemed great! He greeted me with a firm handshake and quietly (he's hard of hearing) told stores about most of the cars and the cars history.
I, too, feel privileged to see the TZ2 and the rest of General Lyon's collection.

None of the cars were started, nor did I even think to ask. Bill said he doesn't drive the TZ2 because it is too loud (seems to match with the in game version).

Magnificent, just magnificent...

I shot a couple of cars featured in GT, but not as "unique" as the Giulia...
(Peugeot 908 HDI FAP Team Oreca, Ford GT40, among a few other ones)

Never seen anything this cool in person. Twice I've seen Ford GTs painted like the GT40 with the Gulf logos and everything, once on the road and recently in the window at a dealership. The only car I've ever driven that's in Gran Turismo at all was a friend's Alfa Romeo 1600 Spider Duetto.

I wonder if the TZ2 makes that "bump-bump...bump" sound in real life.

I don't. Most of those cars aren't even in the game. Seems like just a bunch of people posting some nice (and some not so nice) cars.
It's called the "Cars in General" forum for a reason.

... and i think you're helping prove my viewpoint that the TZ2 is not fitting in the "cars in general" thread and is worthy of its own because it is the specific 1 of the 14 made and was the exact one that was scanned into the game!

Neat, but I think this should belong in this thread

See the link in the 3rd quote? Try that thread instead.

Exactly.

This whole site doesn't relate JUST to GT. GT6 section is for stuff about the game. Off topic is for.. Off topic stuff.

Cars in general.. Is for exactly what the title says! Cars in General! That's exactly what this is! It's just a car. Not the GT6 version. Not anything but the real version, which is why it belongs in the section of the forum for REAL CARS!

Even if the GT one is modeled after this, that doesn't change the fact that this isn't GT related.

Thanks for posting this! It's great to see the exact real life version of one of my favorite cars from GT 5 & 6.

I agreed with most of your post, but the main point no..

It's in GT5, and GT6 (maybe more, not sure) so how isn't this related?
Because this ISNT the GT5 and GT6 version. It's the real life version.

It's not a GT car. It's a real life car. Yes, it's modeled in GT, but so are another 1,199 cars. And I don't see threads for all of their real life counterparts in the GT6 thread. Even the rare ones.

Real life cars=cars in general forum.

GT animated cars=GT forum

Simple as that.
