Some of it's funny, some of it's true. But in this one I like the 2006 version better.

-and given a good paddling by Principal
-and his Mum gives him a whipping.

Not sure if I'd call this funny. Reality would be a better label.
I was spanked by principal & mother several times. It's done me a lot of good 👍 :)
The 2006 world has gone soft and mental.👎
Where are those good ol days. / sigh /

03R1 was born in 1973.

Duke shows how much has changed in 33 years.

03R1 becomes very afraid for children in the next 33 years

1973 - In a short time Johnny feels better and goes on playing.
2006 - Mary won't touch Johnny for fear of getting AIDS, SARS, SIDS, ADHD, and Legionnaire's disease. Johnny's wound can't be immediately healed since no nurse is around to administer so much as a bandage. Police, ambulance, and fire truck are raced to the scene. Due to the increased commotion, locals believe there is a school shooting, so a media helicopter is dispatched to the school. CNN brings you there live. Eventually, Johnny is "diagnosed" with gangrene by an ambulance-chaser's medical team, class-action lawsuits are filed against the school, the playground equipment manufacturer, and the suppliers of Johnny's chocolate milk. Obesity is also blamed, the school loses $1 billion of tax-payer money in a settlement, and teachers still don't go on strike for putting up with these sorts of nonsense.

:scared:

I can imagine 2006 vs 2036...

:yuck:

2036: Mary-Bot hugs Johnny. Johnny develops freaky-robot-lust-obsession 10 years later.

Yeah? What's the point? I know my world is a little less sane than my father's, which was even more sane than the '73 scenario. He's 57.

But what exactly is the root cause of all this? Freedom? Is there good freedom and bad freedom? I actually think this is better suited to the Opinions section, even though is has some sarcastic and exaggerated scenarios.

There's a city north of Dayton, Huber Heights. At the beginning of the last school year the teachers went on strike for over a month. Only a fraction of that time will be taken from the students' next summer break to make up for the lost time. I have no idea what to do about those teachers, or the school district's general crappiness, or the students, a majority of whom are idiots. All I know is I hate it. Teachers that go on strike and deprive kids of instructional time should be fired. They shouldn't have become teachers if they disliked it so much.

Fatmouse may be amused by this, if he could be moved enough to find it worth his attention.

I laugh at you telling an administrator he posted his thread in the wrong section.

One does not simply Duke into Mordor.

You completely forgot about the bio-hazard spill kit for any blood or body fluids that may have spilled on the ground...

Hmmm... Good point. I think I was in one of my "heh, I'm superior" moods. Word.

I think the scary part is thinking what 2045 will be like. We are already into a fear-based society...

Good stuff! 👍

Very interesting, there is such a huge difference. I havn't really noticed any huge changes like this, though, bar the time my friend climbed up a football goal post (Aussie Rules goal posts are quite high up) and he got suspended.

Dont forget that Johnny will get his cousins, friends, and pet goldfish in to help beat up mark, Then take teh story to the news and sue Mark and his family.

Honestly though, most of these are sad but true.

1973 FTW....

I rest my case...

Ewww.... I want a Flux Capacitor now. NOW!!!

Now, I'd agree with TM about the old albums. Pink Floyd and Elton John (can't see the middle one) are great. The only song I like from teh new selection is one from Justin Timberlake.

Somehow my first reading was interpreted like, "He got stuck up there and is now hanging suspended from the post." :dopey:

Dark Side of the Moon. Amazing album. I think that I'd prefer this year though. By the way, what does FTW mean?

xjr-9

FTW = For the win...

FTW = For the win...
Ironically, FTW lost it's intensity about 6 months ago, since it spoiled about as quickly as an apple once bitten.

Thanks Duke for that thoroughly depressing piece. :(

"Laydeeeez nnnnn Gennelmen: Today's world brought to you by Supernanny and Racist Pressure Groups. Just remember, what you want is bad for you or for someone you don't care about. It's our pleasure to withhold your pleasure."

Don’t forget the introduction of don’t-stick-knife-into-child–type labels.

Apart from the principle beating the children, though, I think everything was pretty similar in the 90s. It was only in the last 6 or 7 years that the change has become so dramatic, I think. Then again, I was a child in the 90s so perhaps I was oblivious to a lot of it.

That's funny because they're all exaggerated right?
