Great Theme, I just think it would be better as an 'open edit' competition...

I'm thinking the theme is more like an autoshow/ showroom style. Cars being Parked and Perfect, completely detail oriented. That's what I got out of my quick research session.

Am I correct?¿

Below are a couple quickly found links to galleries, under the search "Auto Salon Show". So until I have better clarification that's what I'm going for...

Link 1

Link 2

I did a Google Image Search to Find images also. I Agree Open edit would allow for a More exquisite(sp?) image to be made

But, this is the 2.0 competition (no open edits)...

Yes, it's a good theme in [2.0], I was just offering my opinion that this theme is more fitted for a open edit than [2.0] (maybe I should have said it that way originally)

-Of course you can't have an Open Edit in a titled [2.0]...

But there is a Customized Competition open with [2.0] edit rule set and only 1 Entry between the two.
As long as both hosts (in.s@ne & MinoltaMan89) and 'theme choosers' (speedemon08 & jgda9rs) agree with myself and 02zetechse, I don't see why there couldn't be a 'Theme Swap'. Win-win...

That's just my opinion and solution, take for what it is.

I think you guys are looking at the theme wrong. You see, at an auto salon, automakers show off all their new and best cars and such. This is basically the same thing. You shoot and edit to the best of your ability, maybe trying a few new things and learning something along the way. Also, Jetboy., that is fine.

Exactly, I had an idea of a couple of cars, a rack of rims just for the full effect, adjusted reflections to match the racks near the 'showcase cars'. Unfortunately It's not doable under 2.0. So back to the drawing board I guess.

Still [2.0] should provide some really nice entries. I better go off and start shooting...

Very Well done Jetboy, nice reflections, and virtually no jaggies.

Speeddemon_09 Nice job, only flaw that jumps out at me, is at the bottom-right of the front rim, although I'm just knit-picking, oh and that whole watermark thing. All and all a good entry.

Thanks for the compliments, GrumpEone. I could have done better with the edges of the body and that, though. Dont be suprised if my entry is changed before the competition ends, this was just getting used it and seeing if this was the route to take.

I cant wait to see the future entries for this competition.

all those suggestions are good, but my theme is just about showing the best of your
abilities with the photomode tools and editting skills, that are within the 2.0 bracket.
think of this comp as a virtual gallery showing for the best of photomode works.
those entries we have right now are perfect, but i hope to see more since there will
be only 4 slots available in the poll. i hope bram and mog and all those guys show up
too! 👍

Thanks Minolta and GrumpE for the postive compliments, especially considering the lack of work done to it (limited resources suck.) I was hoping that taking a concept car and putting it in a "showcar setting", either a street setting (as below) or as a conceptual autoshow setting (which the spot in Japan I picked I felt was perfect.)

Street Quick Edit

Notice the feel of an auto showcase, even in a "tuning scene". Please ignore the jaggies.

Cheers,
Jetboy

Dude, it's called a thumbnail.....

Great shot Grump, probably the cleanest shot I've seen from you. My only nag is that the back end is a bit out of focus.

I should have an entry up in a few days.

Thanks, Yeah the rear is a bit out, didn't really notice until I had finished the insane amount of touch-up on the front end, not sure if I can smudge it back into focus.

I may redo this if I have the time

great entry there so far grumpeone. the lighting is great, and so is the angle of the car. i can see some details from the grooves of the tire from the back. one thing i would've done while in photomode was use a smaller aperture, say like f5 or even f8 to get the whole car in focus. it's a bit soft in this one, a little bit of the sharpening tool or even film grain would be an easy fix. great effort so far though. the pontiac too, which is the first entry in this competition (if i'm not mistaken) is a great effort as well. i've been thinking if maybe we should just bump up the poll number and just include all the entries?
maybe that would be better specially if christmas is coming, and i think it would suit the theme more and get more people to join. can we do that?
