Please report your finding about the bug here.. It looks like this describes that problem in a round about way:

''- Corrected an issue where if a certain operation was performed when using a steering wheel controller with an H pattern gear shifter, the shift lever position, gear position display and the car operation would become mismatched. (On the Logitec G25 Racing Wheel, Logitech G27 Racing Wheel, and Guillemot T500RS + TH8RS Shifter.)''

Need to give this a try. I remember that bug, though it was neat when 2nd became first and 3rd became second etc... Since it had 5 gears it was great, like the Mercedes E190 or something... Hope it's fixed now though

The real Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5 16 has a Dog leg config (as mentioned above) so this is actually surprising realistic and shouldn't be changed.

What I think the fix is about is sometimes during near miss-shifts using a H pattern gearbox the display on hud came up with N (neutral) like it miss-shfted but it actually went in the next gear. Minor fix for a rare problem. A problem I wish they would fix (unless they have?) is shifting during wheelspin even if you do lift the throttle.

I found another bug, not related to the wheel. But I can't find any bug report thread so I post it here. After 2.01 the game reset to default Aero Settings if u switch from Setting A to B or C.

Oh... Yeah I remember now. That happened to me once. I was hoping this convoluted description was about the mis shift..

On my g25 I had a bug that if I put it to neutral it went into first if I remember. Gonna have to check if the bug is still there

Ive found that after the update its alot harder to slip the gear by not letting go of the accelerator, you can still apply a little power and it will still shift into gear.

I sometimes had cars "slip out of gear" especially crossing the start finish line I think.

A dog-leg arrangment would be pretty cool if we could select it especially when driving the 190E cosworth..... and an E30 M3 if it was put in the game (hint hint, pd, hint hint!!!!)

Dog-leg arrangements were actually pretty common on race cars in the 80s and early 90s though before sequential boxes and flappy-paddle boxes started become the norm as it meant the gears that you needed to be quickest to change such as 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th or vice a versa such as in accelerating out of slow corners or heavy braking with heel and toe had as low chance of missing a gear as possible.

as 1st and 5th was rarely used or only on a straight, the far over cross-gate shift wasn't as important as the more naturally easier to select central 4 gears.

So Thrustmaster have changed his name? :dopey:

What do you mean?

This morning I was having issues with rolling starts at Daytona. The countdown would start and when it reached 0 the car wouldn't accelerate beyond 74 mph for anyone on the track. This happened in several Daytona rooms that I joined. I have since learn that if you press the start button during the count down the car will accelerate properly. This wasn't an issue prior to this mornings update.

Isn't there an entire thread devoted to the issue you mention already? I'm not sure I see how this relates to the mismatched gear indicator/shifter position issue discussed here.

POSTED THIS IN ANOTHER THREAD TOP PART WAS A QUOTE

Has anyone with a G27 updated to 2.01? Saw this in the release notes:

I wonder if this is about the clutch issue (transmission landing to neutral when shifting from first to second). Downloading the patch right now. 16 minutes left!"

figured out what this is about. BEFORE THE UPDATE if you say took off in a rolling start race and the shifter was in lets say 3rd gear and it was a paddle shift car and you start using the paddle shifters for shifting if you engaged the clutch while in paddle mode it would throw the car in neutral until you held in the clutch pulled the shifter into neutral and back into a gear.... AFTER THE UPDATE you could have the shifter sitting in 3rd gear and have been using the paddle shifters say up to 5th gear if you hit the clutch and let it out you are now in the gear the shifter is sitting in instead of neutral.

and the force feed back of the wheel feels better to me after this update. not sure if anybody else noticed this but it's stronger feeling. in wheel settings I run on simulation, power steering off and force feed back at 9

I just hope they can get some power shifting into play at some point. I want to hold throttle slip clutch and bang a gear at some point "power shifting" . would really make racing faster and more realistic using the shifter and clutch as well as drifting would be more fun. I still us the clutch and shifter all the time drifting but you just gotta time your shifting and clutch work just right and I use it racing.

what annoys me and I've tested this before with replays and chasing ghosts and watching entry and exit speeds is that I am way faster coming into corners and through the middle because using clutch and shifter with heel and toe downshifting sets the chassis up real nice for the corner..but through the accelerations areas because of the slight granny shift it takes I'm a little slower.

I agree it would be nice to be able to pull off a no-lift shift if you time it just right. Not sure they will ever implement that, though.

Interesting remarks.. must investigate.

one thing I didn't say is the shifting is way faster than it has ever been using the clutch. it used to take almost full throttle lift

but missed shifts are still possible if throttle isn't lifted enough........the synchro rings in our transmissions must be worn out haha

I was wondering if T500 users have the same bug where you get a mis-shift if ''changing gears while wheels are spinning''. I was hoping that when PD started supporting the T500 wheel, they would fix above issue and that it would also fix it for G25/G27 users. Maybe they still will at some point in the future.

You could do no lift shifts in early GT5P versions, it was abused in the time trials so they patched it out. I very much doubt it will return unless we get a drivetrain abuse damage model.

Ahh. Before my time with PS3. A damage model that would account for engine/drivetrain abuse would be a really great addition.
