2.3 Sports Car Championship Table​

Here is how the Championship standings are for the first ever 2.3 Sports Car Championship...
After a few attempts, I finally managed to get something resembling a decent looking table up and running.

A fantastic team season for Anglo-Nippon Racing didn't look so hot at the end of the first few rounds. Regardless of the events that took place they were a force in numbers and always near the top. After a couple of the top drivers dropped out there was only eber going to be one team to take the title, and they did it by a country mile, dominating the top rankings, especially towards the end if the season...

AngelCreator is the first ever TWO-POINT-THREE Sports Car Champion! He has been dedicated and consistant throughout and it was replected in the final standings. This is an unaltered, direct translation of the round results and even with that, he comes out on top. He successfully stop any challengers (namely me) in their tracks and in the end, despite a close championship, took the title by a decent twenty points.
Danisfast took second place overall without winning a single race. His up and down season was capped off with a poor showing in the last round but overall, scored a very good result and has the highest place second entry in the championship (fourth).
Bigracer was another, dedicated driver, and that also showed in the tables as he collects a thirf place overall ranking. Crucially, he was more often than not, faster than Danisfast's second entry and was again in the last round quick enough to beat his second entry to third place. He was also the only one on the podium or in the top five not to be an Anglo-Nippon team member.
Fourth is Danisfast's second entry, in which the beginning of the very last last round, held third place but lost it to Bigracer.
Fifth place is another Anglo-Nippon entry, AngelCreator's second entry, the Nissan R390 which also had an up and down season, but overall scoring some very impressive results including a victory in one of the races, thus leading to an overly positive result.
He is followed by the other Nissan R390, driven by live4speed. He was one of the elite drivers who eventually faded away from the tournament mid season. his fantastic performances on the track were among the best in the busniess, but a lack of submission to the later stages championship eventually saw him slip to sixth place overall.
Behind him is east's NSX, which was also among the top finishers in most of the rounds, Jetboys427 who, during the mid to late stages of the championship, took the lead, until he too, missed out on a few crucial rounds right at the end.
Shockwaveracing, though fast was often in the non-submissions catagory, as was DUNDA, racefan88501 (though, he joined mid-season) George Morley, and the list goes on...
Well, the evidence is there, the championship is over...

The points system is being updated constantly to suit the numbers in this successful tournament and currently run as follows:

2nd=40points
3rd=36points
4th=32points
5th=28points
6th=25points
7th=22points
8th=19points
9th=16points
10th=14points

12th=10points
13th=8points
14th=7points
15th=6points
16th=5points
17th=4points
18th=3points
19th=2points
20th=1point
Whoever qualifies pole gets 4points extra.

hurray, i finish 3rd: great. thanks so much dan for setting up and taking us through this great tourney. too bad we had to face so much headwind.
if a next 2.3 (or 1.5 or whatever) will be set up, count me in!

ps to george: what is 'thirf'? i don't know that word but then again english is not my native tongue ...

edit: i must say that part of the credits go to dunda/joe, for assisting dan in the tourney and for helping me out setting up the fantastic csl. really too bad he left through the backdoor during the challenge - or so it seems anyway.

Bigracer, you should really keep thoughts like that to yourself, I grew up with Dunda, and he was one of the most honest people you could ever talk to. And he really loved this tournament.

Just to let you guys know that he was involved in a tragic accident on his way back from a holiday in the mountains, So Bigracer, know what you talking about before you say anything.
 
Whoah, ok, you gotta admit it DOES seem like he took off through the back door and the timing of the incident was unfortunate.
I mean, what else were we supposed to think?
He was at the core of the tourney, and its demise. I don't doubt he's an honest bloke and both Bigracer and I agree his absence was very odd.
Look at this from our perspective, DUNDA is involved in an accident, fair cop, but he still signed in, and still ignored us and gave no explanation, nor did anyone else for that matter. It also happened to be during a time when one of his submissions came under a hint of suspicion, it wouldn't be the first time in history that someone has just buggered off after being caught cheating now would it?? Both Bigracer and I shared that similar opinion and you can now see how we see it, you might understand his comments and our position a bit better.

off course i never knew anything about an accident. it was just this row between him and george about submissions and replays thru which the whole situation became so strange.
i'd be the last to say anything negative about joe 'cos we were teammates, we chatted a lot over msn and had a lot of fun. he helped me out bigtime with setting up the car.
so, speed-racer, no offense to him mate! i really hope to hear from him again.
 
to all involved in dan's 2.3 challenge

this week i got a pm from speed-racer, apparently a friend from dunda/joe in south africa.

he reacted to a post i wrote about the strange absence of joe after a discussion on his non-delivering a replay proving his performance(s) in dan's challenge.

speed-racer informed me that tragically joe and his fiancee both died in a car accident somewhere in august.

he agreed that gtp'ers should be informed about this terrible news.

when this message came to my attention, tears came to my eyes. i didn't know joe in real life, but through gtp and msn i had come to know him as a real nice person. we were team mates in dan's challenge and he helped me out whenever he could in setting up my car or guiding me through a track.

i guess this clears up a lot of things around the eery situation that was created after some 2.3 participants wondered if his submissions were correct and after he did not upload any replays to prove it.

It is sad when people die, and though I didn't know him well I feel that all members
of GTP are family so I hope him and his fiancee souls can rest in peace and we
will pray for them and wish well to the familys of the lost souls.

May they rest in peace.
