yeah, i know the trannies arnt the greatest....w/ cobbs stage 2 i should be puttin out around 225whp so i shouldnt have much to worry about, i dont go out and beat the tranny every day, im pretty gentle on it most of the time

Yeah.

Well, people finally convinced me to go with the Cobb Stage II. But I believe I'll be getting a Prodrive Axle Back exhaust and a TurboXS Stealth Back for the exhaust system. Helix/MRT flex up pipe will be down the way as well.

Thanks.

Hehe, I'm just gloating. I went into the dealership just looking for a piece to get the third eye to work, and a salesman said he wanted to buy the car. Supposedly GC8 Subarus are a big tuner car.

Hehe, yes, I was going to fix that.
Man, and I thought you'd have some pics up of the car pwn'd :D

well the unthinkable has happened...i just got the order confirmation for my accessport!!!! that was friggin quick. i ordered it around june 15th or so, and its scheduled to be here next tuesday, july 27th. im outta town till the 28th tho, i hope they dont need a signature...if they dont, i'll have a nice present waitin on my doorstep when i get back!!! God i cant wait

will do...man i cant wait. i was NOT expecting it to come this quick. most people see at LEAST a 2 month wait, if not 3....but this was barely over a month, thats so friggin awesome

Love it when these two WRX freaks chat. Very interesting. WRX are awesome! ;)

In the STi, the turbo was hidden well, hard to find. I was looking for it in the STi and couldnt find it until my cousin told me where it was. He said it took him a while to find it too. Is it the same with the WRX? The location of the turbo?

EDIT: I have yet to ride in the STi. Last time I meet my cousin we didn't have time. So Im looking foward to another meet so I could get in it at least. The fastest car I have been in is the 350Z, and im looking foward to breaking that record!:) Oddly enough, The 350z I was in is the STi's younger brother. Last time I went over to his house, he hasn't bought the STi yet.

The WRX turbo is on the passanger side towards the rear of the car. I believe it's covered by a heat shield so you can't really see it well, but you can see a bit of the housing, and you know its there. :)

IDAFC you have much more patience than I. I was constantly checking where the packages were every minute of every day until they were in my hand. I would install whatever it was in the middle of the night (the wheels went on at 2am one morning) and had to take it out on a test drive.

haha, yeah....i was starting to lose patience tho. when i come back from my trip i was seriously considering buying a full tbe w/ and upipe......now it looks like i wont have to! for a little while at least, untill i can get some of these credit card bills paid down...haha. i really wanted to do accessport and exhaust at the same time and jump right to stage 2...but thats cuz i thought i'd be getting my port later and would have more time to get an exhaust. so whatever. i sure as hell aint waitin to throw that thing in until i get an exhaust now. its goin in as soon as i get home...haha

welp. I got home tonight and first thing i did after i unpacked was load up the accessport :)

Im runnin the stage 1 91 octane map right now. i took it out for a quick spin tonight. its not quite a night and day difference, but it does feel stronger. I really cant say too much about it yet. mainly tonight i was just focusing on what kinda boost levels i was hitting, and not how fast i was going.

i did a run before i flashed, and on the stock boost guage in 3rd and 4th gear i was pretty much holding the needle between the .09-.10 mark. which i think is somewhere around 14.3-14.5psi

after the accessport reflash i loaded up their boost monitor that reads straight from the ecu and in 3rd and 4th now i spike briefly off of 15.4-15.6 psi and then pretty much hold 14.8-15.0psi almost until redline. mmmmmmm, boost. It was kinda tough cuz i was trying to watch the monitor and the road at the same time. i'll have to take someone w/ me next time so they can watch it for me

i'll have to drive it around this week and hopefully the ecu will get used to it and it'll get even smoother and more powerful as the week goes on. i didnt really expect to see TOO much of a difference yet since i had JUST reflashed, but the boost is mainly what i was concerned with, and it looks like im hittin th target boost so thats all i care about right now 👍 i really need an exhaust tho...gotta get rid of that turbo lag.

Also, this was the first time driving my car all week since i was away on vaction, and all this week ive been riding around a low low 13 second GTP, so im still used to the way that thing pulls (which is, to say the least, a little harder than mine...haha) so i gotta get used to my car again.

overall im definently not dissapointed tho. money well spent, and im glad the waits finally over!

A lot more people to seem to have the Stage II and be very happy with it. I was impressed when I took a ride in my friend's Stage II WRX. It was very nice.

I just got a Vishnu TBE... My car is now out of commission for a day or two. Subaru puts the bolts in the HARDEST to reach areas. I'm also sore. And a cat-back exhaust fell on my head. Now I have work. God, damn, it.

Its been a year since I first got her and shes performing as beautifully as ever.

Even though I've beaten the crap out of her, really, really, over-reved (don't ask), and put her through an autocross or two, she hasn't caused me any problem. Except for burning a major hole in my pocket.

As a little anniversary gift, I bought her a full (slightly used) JDM STi Spec C struts and spring set up. Hopefully I'll get it on her in a week or so.

You can't expect me not ask, Goomba :) What happened? Missed a 3-4 shift and ended up doing a 3-2? Bend any valves?

👍 Good going - now those autocross events - what were the results ;)?

Well I haven't really had time to make it down to many autocross events. I've been to three so far. One while I was stock (10th place in D-Stock, beat out all other stock WRXs), another with just a rear sway bar (really sucked), and with my current set up (2nd place in STX).

Damn. You nailed it right on.

Everything seems fine. I was going to run a compression check, but the damn spark plugs are so far in there and so hard to get to because of the flat engine design, I said screw it. Nothing feels different, or wrong. Like I said, good ol' Subaru.

Anyway, who cares? I'll be replacing the engine with in the cars lifetime. Maybe in the next 3 to 4 years.

 Ask me how I know, brudda!! :indiff:

Sorry to hear that. If the motor is running fine, you're probably okay. This is unless a few are slightly bent and got "hammered" straight by the valve guides.. in which case you have some weakened stems which could snap and drop any day..... But don't let me scare you too much. :D I've just heard stories.

Thanks for your words of confidence. Well, I'm not the only one whose done it and everyone else posted their experiences on ClubWRX.net. Out of everyone there, no one bent a valve or damaged anything. I did hear talk about RSXs and Celicas doing the same thing and KABLAAM! Engine gone. And they say Toyotas and Hondas are reliable. :sly:

It happened with some degree of regularity in the E36 M3 world as well, where we called it "the money shift". :ouch: Happened to me one day when I was racing (and beating, for some reason) an LT1 Camaro A4 during a brisk highway run. I guess I got too excited ;)

:nervous: I dodged a bullet. The motor was fine and stay fine for another 3 years before I sold the car. Must have clutched out just in time, because I figured I put 8200 RPM on the motor for an instant (redline was 7000). I've long since changed my shifting technique to avoid such ...disasters.

I have no idea about the engine design on the Subies and the E36 M3, but the RSX engine (and I am fairly sure) the Celica engine are both "interference engines". Meaning that the piston will moves into the space occupied by the valves later in the stroke. So if the timing is off, or the valves float (from the high RPM) it can be disasterous.

Yes, all BMWs since the late 70s have interference type valvetrains (if memory serves me correctly). A mild over-rev in an E36/E46 typically bends several exhaust valves, leading to many hours of head work. Extreme over-revs causes the expensive stuff to just go flying.
