2 gamesaves on single PSN account?

Hi folks, a question I have.

Is it possible to have 2 gamesaves for Gran Turismo 5 on a single account? for example, keeping one account as a main and the second as a storage of sorts. whenever I need to access the storage, then I could just delete the main gamesave and restore the sub-gamesave from a flash drive. would this do anything to my main gamesave when I choose to restore it back?

Answers greatly appreciated!

You can have as many game saves for a single account as you want. And unless you're getting confused and mess them up, doing anything with one of your saves won't affect any of the others.

That said, one game save might indeed mess up what you have online, if it's bound to another.

I wouldn't mind online rankings and such I think, since I have got most of the trophies I need and don't think I would be doing time trials and the likes again. just wishing to have one to keep the GT-R Academy 09' since the event is time-limited and I'd start a fresh game again when I manage to complete everything.

This is the problem your going to run into with that, and I was experimenting with this myself. When they update the game if your storage game save is in the past, when you overwrite your present gamesave it won't recognize new items. For example racing gear, or the Jeff Gordon suit.

In my case, I needed to reload a game save from April. This was before the racing gear update. When I did this all my online drivers lost there gear and there money. When I reloaded the recent save the gear came back but the money was gone.

I would not recommend doing this if you remote race. I'm sure there are potentially other things that can get lost doing this, but I'm not experimenting with this anymore.

how about if one just do a manual save every time an update comes round, would this in any way affect the gamesaves? I might try it out, but seems a bit scary considering what you've gone through. I have a ton of credit in my main, mostly through excessively boring grinds.

I don't race online or remote-race though, only thing I do that would be considered online is Seasonals I guess. would it affect my gamesave?

If you keep them both up to date you shouldn't have a problem, but then what's the point of having two in the first place.

In my case I wanted to reload a save from a ticket I opened to recover a car to trade to somebody. I'm not really understanding why you want to have two game saves?

Storage?? Your most recent game save will always have the most on it. And if you are keeping both up-to-date, your just making a double back-up which is something everyone should be doing already.

Why don't you just create a new account as that is the easiest way to have two saves.

what I mean is that I want to have the GT-R Academy Version 09' on a fresh gamesave, and the only way I can do that is through starting a new gamesave now as the event itself ends in a week or so. it's always been my plan to have a new start once I finish the trophies, shiny new 0/0 cars and everything.

does DLC's transfer between accounts on the same console? it's one of my considerations, together with trophies. just thought it would be more convenient to have it on a single account.

Ok I'm following now. So you want to play the game over on your existing account. Yes this will work just make sure you keep your "Main" game save up-to-date especially if there are updates and patches.

I would recommend 2 different brands of memory sticks that look different as well, just to avoid any mistakes of mixing them up.

DLC transfers yes. I would say make a new account as well. That's what the majority of people do. The only reason I would see someone doing this is if they are sentimentally tied to their original username. If not, your not making things easier, your actually making them more complicated.

Edit: Now that I think of it, if you don't remote race. You should be good. When you load your old game save you can't lose anything you don't have already. My concern was jumping back and forth between past and present. But in your case you will not be going back and forth. but rather starting fresh.

much obliged for the detailed explanation. would proceed with creating one then, just hoping for more LMS cars to repopulate the OCD soon.
