We're all familiar with Bugatti, Porsche, Ferrari, McLaren, Pagani and Koenigsegg. Some of the top supercar makers. But there is now 2 new supercars on the way and from "Down Under". That's right, these new cars are coming from Australia. So what can we expect from a country that has never made a supercar? Well this.
The first offering is the Joss JP1. The plan is to build 25-100 a year but they will cost around the $500,000AUD mark going face to face with the Ferrari 358 Italia and the McLaren MP4-12C. But this new car is being said to do 0-100km/h(0-60mph) is less than 3 seconds. The creator, Matt Thomas, believes that the fastest car in the world is the fastest car to go round the Nurburgring, so he is obsessed with making this thing as good on track than it is on paper.
Here's what it looks like.
The second offering is the HAL Giocattolo. The creator, Paul Halstead, has tried to get his brand into the supercar world before, back in the late 80's but it didn't go well. The car was called the Giocattolo(the new car may carry the original nameplate). It had Alfa underpinnings and an engine from GM Holden. In 3 years he only sold 15 and saw closure of the company. Now he's back. The new car is scheduled for its launch in 2016 but here's what I can tell you. It's going to have 2 of GM's LS7 V8's turned over by 45 degrees to create a 14 litre W16 which is said to produce 1200bhp or more, more!
Here's the prototype drawing.
