I want to race my brother online in GT5P, but the only online option I have found are all events with 6-12 players. I don't want to race 6-12 people I don't know right now, just 1 other person with a PS3, is this possible? If not, does anyone know if it will be in GT5? Is there a workaround? This seems like a feature that should be in the game.

Please use the search button found in the top right of your screen, this question has been asked many many times before.
To answer your question though, no it isn't possible, only set races with open lobbies are available. And the feature should be in GT5. We will have to wait until the game is in our hands to know.
If you want to connect with your brother then you both need to enter the same race at the same time. This is the best chance for you both to end up in the same race and will work 9 times out of 10.
