2 player problems

Ok here is my problem guys. I have GT4 for my PS2 and when ever i play 2 players in arcade mode the driver assist controls such as TCS and ASM are not activated. This makes for some interesting racing, but if a rear wheel reive high HP vehicle is used there is no controlling it. I have went to options>arcade>driving aids. Then i activate these, go back to race with a pal and nothing happens. Is there something that i dont know. hope that this is clear guys. Thanks in advance for the help.
 
So there no way to turn on the driver assist? This seems crazy to me. Bad move by the makers. I cant convince some of my friends that this game is good , because they and i cant hardly play with out the drivers assist. I also dont understand this because i am able to change the settings for all of arcade mode, which includes the 2 player mode.
 
Remember too much power doesn't equal a good car, a balanced one is what you are trying to aim for.

Thats a load. My F1 car is great fun in the GT mode and i would like to have fun driving it in the Arcade 2 player mode. This car has balance, accel, top end, and great cornering abilities. I am not able to use this rear wheel drive car effectively in two player. GT3 had driver assist on the two player mode did it not?
 
you have to realise that you have a car with loads of power, but the computer is half-driving ot for you, limiting your power in the corners to prevent wheelspin, if the car didnt have so much power then you could give it more throttle and have less wheel-spin. just be a little more gentle on the gas, and your lap times will improve :)
 
In the options menu, there is an arcade and a 2p menu. Go to the 2 player menu, and drivers aids are there, I think. Maybe that just allows you to turn the aids on. I don't really know.

If not, when you select the car, you should have the choice to turn aids on or off.

My ten year old sister has driven a few race cars in order to beat me on the test track. Trust me, somehow you can turn those on.
 
Thanks guys. I just figured it out. If you go to the options menu it does not work. You must first select a car and then it gives you the option, but unfortunately it doesn't work when i select my garage.
