2 Player Split Screen?

Sorry if this has been asked already, I tried a search but there's limited info.

I received my GT5P yesterday and played around with it for about an hour. Can anyone tell me if there is a 2 player split screen mode? Or do we need to wait for Christmas (or the final release)?

I don't remember GT4 Prologue having 2 player split screen, so I doubt it.
 
Ahh. Sorry, I never owned GT4. This is my first system since SNES :O
 
The current trend in racers is to not include offline multiplayer. MotorStorm does not do it, NASCAR 08 does not have it either. I see two reasons for not including it. One is, it forces us to buy multiple systems and games. Two, is they use the excuse that they do not want to break up the high definition picture. IMO, this is bupkis; RFoM can run 4 players on one screen. MY daughter and I were playing 2 player split screen and it looked fine.
 
If I can't do splitscreen, will I at least be able to play someone in the same room/building without the potential connection speed issues of the web? Or, put another way, is LAN-type play still an option?

Let's hope so, or the UKGTP's meeting will come to an end.

This will be unlikely in a demo of GT's first on-line version.
GT4 Prologue had no such feature, either.

Well for this reason alone, I'm not going to buy prologue and just wait for the actual game and get that IF it contains 2player mode.

It's the same reason why I decided not to get Formula One: CE
 
but what about lan parties if you want to get together with your buddies as in GT5P and hookup 16 PS3's or does Sony want to have sole control of multiplayer racing with just online racing? anyone know if they are going to offer this feature for the full version I would really like to have this lan feature so that we can bring everybody out of thier living rooms and out somewhere at a lan party.
