i think that is missing on the top gear test track a standing start or time trial and a variation with no cones of the track. this 2 things should be not a big deal to add to the game.
anybody have another ideas of really simple things that could improve the gran truism experience?

Those two would be great. But having a wet track like in one of the license tests would be even better.

Definitely needs a standing start and weather. I'm neither here nor there with cones, but, yeah, give the option.

Also, they could turn the runway into a drag strip.

The track is sorely underused, if I'm being honest.

I wish they had a time trial version where they got rid of all the invisable walls on the inside of the track, and extended the ones on the outside of the track by another 40 or so feet so we don't hit a wall when we go off-track 5 or 6 feet while pushing out cars too hard.

Remove cones, add in replay cameras that match the show, remove inner barriers and extend outer barriers, add in weather changes, and standing starts. Then we would have a perfect TGTT.

Best track in the game. Love Top Gear and hot lapping with the stig is a great way to relax after work
Would like an extended run way

There are some many wasted chances to make it better and more fun.
- ability to remove cones
- short version of track
- open places from TGTT opening video for photomode purposes
- 1/4, 1/2 and 1 mile drag races
- fully opened track, without invisible walls and with open whole runway
- wet track (we have this already in game!)
- changable time of day (again, in licence is afternoon)
- oh yeah, and standing starts

Did I missed something?

Option for cones on and off, changing weather, full runway acses, no invisible walls and standing starts.

Yeah, weather seems like something pretty crucial to add to it. Would it really be that hard for PD to add that? Because they didn't, im guessing it was. Too bad.

^They've put wet track in license test, so it's not that hard.

As mentioned above, but also the ability to just drive around the area freestyle. Would be good online if me and mates could make up some Top Gear style events and run it how we liked.

I'd like standing starts and weather (may as well add a suzuki liana as well).
I'm not bothered about the cones or invisible walls though.
I also agree that it's an ideal location for a drag race track.

I'd also like more A spec seasonals on the track.

The top gear short track should also be in the game along with weather camera views etc

T10 must have seen PD's missed opportunities and have added almost all of the above requests for FM4, minus rain I think.

Have a series, very similar to the SLS challenge, on the TGTT that tests various cars and conditions. Examples: FF, AWD, high HP, LMP, production, Comfort tires, Racing Softs.

This could be very easily done making this a weekly item. Adding 5 cars with different conditions, or even 3 cars. An example week one lineup could be:
Stock Veyron with Sport Softs.
Veyron Stage 3 Turbo(to simulate the SS) with Racing Hards.
Audi R10 with Racing Mediums.
Toyota Supra with Sport Mediums.
another Supra with Comfort Hards.

I'm not sure if anyone said this yet, I just skimmed the first few replies. But they should make an option to have the REAL way the Stig does the Hot Laps, and with the stars in affordable car laps too. I started to watch Top Gear again (I found the channel, ^-^) and then I realized, that its not the same track that we run. They go into a different circuit. The corner, the Hammer Head is both ran forwards and backwards. I think it'll be nice to do the actual track that the Stig does, to legitly compare lap times.

Replace the existing lap times layout on the right of the screen with a powerlap board, including Jeremy's questionable mis-spelling of car names!

I run standing powerlaps there using the "wiggly" line just before the start/finish line as the starting point, as PD haven't recognised that the white line is the starting point! (The have it programmed maybe 4 or 5 feet before the line) To quote the show, "how hard can it be!?" They already had the marker point laid out for them!!

(and relax,,, wooosaaahh!)

The two things missing for me are
1. Hammond in his Jet engine dragster
2. May in his dacia sandero (beating Hammond to the finish line for obvious reasons :D)

The moment there is real Sting. There will be legal issue.

I just don't understand why they don't have standing start time trials on a track that is only used for this purpose.

I don't blame Top Gear going to F4, and putting the track in that game. Kaz/PD severely wasted the opportunity to use the TGTT fully in GT5. They could have done so much more with it.

i agree, they should have all types of weather, for example frost on the ground, drizzle, snow, rain etc.. n definately have standing starts.. n i agree with the drag strip because on the show they do, do drag competetions... the track is underrated n underused...

TGTT, in my opinion on GT5, has been castrated. I mean, the hump of grass on the REAL gambon driving line is merely artificial turf and severely comprimised by invisible walls. I would like to drive the whole facility.

I can partially agree with the exterior wall if it were moved about 50 feet, but as long as the fence can be hit, and not useless.

Have some weather, get rid of dem tire barriers, and for crying out loud have the finish line serve its purpose as the timing line, as opposed to some invisible line doing the dirty work. And btw, the same issue occurs on the karting tracks.

If you refuse to return TGTT's integrity, then let that P.O.S. franchise on XBOX 360 have sole possession of the Top Gear Test Track. But I guess that Kaz wants to lose to Bill Gates, and won't do jack s*** about TGTT, let alone give a damn.

You can actually do a lap from a standing start if you creep up to the starting line. The lap timer won't start until you cross it, and it saves the lap time, not the total time.

As for the cones, you have to admit that despite not being crazy about them, they do serve a purpose. The track isn't clearly marked. So the cones do give you an idea of where to go. Turning them off might be a nice option for when you're used to the track.

The only thing I want is for replay cameras to more closely resemble the broadcast. I can't get the video to embed, so we'll do it the old fashioned way.

the only thing that annoys me about the cones, are that coming out of chicago they force you to cut back over the track, whereas, most often the stig stays to the left edge of the runway coming out, then moves over gradually.

also, falken, they do not run the hammerhead 2 ways, where have you seen that?
