2002 Hyundai Sonata 2.4L engine to fit into 1999 Hyundai Sonata with same 2.4L engine. Will the 2002 engine fit into my 1999?

I have a 1999 Hyundai Sonata sedan with a 2.4L 4 cylinder engine, auto tran.

My question is: There is what appears to be a Identical engine for sale on Ebay but its out of a 2002 Sonata. Will this engine fit into my 1999 Sonata?

I would assume it would if it's the same generation but do you really want to spend the money to do that? Not sure what your situation is but I can't imagine these are cars that people try to keep on the road.

It should work, since it is of the same gen, running from 1998 to 2004. The 2.4L engine was used throughout that run before being replaced by a newer 2.4L.
