I bought a used 03 BMW M3 touring car that showed up in the used car dealer. Tuned it a bit further and was shocked to learn 1)it handles INCREDIBLY 2) for some stupid reason even though it's a German touring car, I can't use it in the German Touring Car Expert series event. Any ideas if this is a bug or some intentional decision? If it's intentional that makes no sense.

BMW M3 touring car? Are you sure you don't mean the 320i touring car?

The 320i isn't eligible because, while it's both German and a touring car, it isn't a German touring car - the event is for DTM cars, which for the last decade or so have been 4-litre V8 RWD cars, whereas the 320i is a 2-litre straight-six. The 320i, I think, was raced in the ETCC under those specs.

Strangely the M3 GTR race car, which isn't a touring car at all, is eligible for the event.

So are the r8 lm cars....odd

The inclusion of these cars invalidates the dtm argument and stears me towards oversight.

If you think about it, its kind of funny that a German Touring Car can't race in a German Touring Car event. I knew the reason why, but its still funny.

+1, hit it right on the head !!!!!!!!

An oversight/error on PD's part for sure !! 👍

ara
incidentally, you can use the Lexus ISF racing concept '08 in this event.

A car that was developed with the intention of competing under new DTM regulations. As much as any prototype/concept belongs in the game, that probably belongs in that event.

I'd personally lean towards the oversight/error being allowing the GT cars rather than excluding the ETCC one.

Have you ever tried to read IS-F Racing Concept description? It's an Open Vectra racing car covered with lexus bubble.

You can also use an Alfa Romeo, but then again, that was back when the first DTM had foreign competitors.

👍

It's amazing what information they put in the game, and all you have to do is read..... :) What a great game.

The oversight is that those two cars (the M3 GTR and the R8 LMS) are allowed into the race. Those two cars shouldn't be able to be used.

The 320i was not a DTM car. DTM regs are 4L V8's, that 320i has the BMW I6 in it. It's also severely underpowered compared to DTM cars.

Can any body show me a link to the list of cars you can use for the DTM racing? Tried searching and got this post. I'm looking at collecting them all, loved the DTM racing in Codemasters Toca series (v8 supercars here in Aus). Also I heard the Aussie Au v8 supercar in GT5 can be tuned to be competitive with them. I want to test it out setting pp to even the field for a possible Aussie/DTM race series.
