Some of you know the story already, but I felt I had to retell it.
Last Sunday was another car day I won't soon forget.
On Saturday, I got a call from a buddy of our club telling me about a breakfast meet for Italian Car Owners. He said he could bring 1 person along and he chose me. So I find out that after the breakfast, we would all be going to the mall near me in Plano. There under the garage were test drives for some of the most beautiful cars ever. Test drives were ranging from what I thought was $20 to $40 for 5 minute ride, but I soon found out that they were from $50-$75, and passenger rides were from $30-$65. But the cars they had there were worth the money for such a small amount of time. Of course, there was nice waiting line even for the so called "small" amount of people invited. But before I drove anything, I had to sign alot of paperwork.
The cars available were all used cars except the 2 Maseratis. The were 7 cars in all. So after getting there at 7 AM, (Uh!) and eating breakfast, I decided to go after the grey Gallardo. After waiting 15 minutes, I got my turn. $65 down the drain, but worth it. Of course, every car had an associate with you. So, took her out. Pulling out of the parking lot, I gave her some gas and was told to pull onto the highway. There I took her up 70Mph. Afterwards, I came down off the highway and drove around the city. After a few stop lights and looks, the instructor got me back to the parking lot. The next car I decided to drive was a Ferrari 360 Spyder. Unfornately, I wasn't allowed to put the top down, but it was great. Lots of acceleration and some magnificent turning.
After the 360, and drive in the F355, I went after the Maseratis. Again, awesome fun, but with the Coupe, I gave a little too much gas around one corner and almost ran into a bus.
Soon afterwards, I decided to take a break and become the passenger in Murcielago which was actually a nice 10 minute ride up and down the highway. And the driver wasn't afraid to hit a few speeds.
I decided afterwards to be driven in an already used F430 courtesy of Lamborghini of Dallas. ****ing awesome! I was disappointed it wasn't able for test drives.
Afterwards, I finished and drove a 456 and almost finished the day with a drive in a used Diablo VT. Best d*mn thing to drive, imo.
At about 11AM, the event closed down, and I and my pal watched each car be backed up. It wasn't until later we saw another member (one I'd never seen before) with his Pantera Si. And according to him, after hearing some things about me, good and bad, I was allowed to drive his car for about 3 blocks with my pal's car behind us. At 11:30, I was taken home back in my pal's car. I found out the Pantera's owner was named Johnathen. Not the same one as the one in Germany.
It was an awesome day! I was probably the youngest driver there, and most watched. But the day was awesome as I got dropped off at Outback to meet Abby and her parents for Mother's Day.
Oh, and since I forgot to mention my pal's name, it was Damon. Damey for his nickname.
But I'm glad I got to enjoy this once in a life time experience. I felt so glad, I used what money I had left to pay for the bill at Outback.
