The San Marino Grand Prix is a Formula One championship race which has been run at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in the small town of Imola, near the Apennine mountains in Italy, since 1981. It is called the San Marino Grand Prix because there is already an Italian Grand Prix, and the principality of San Marino is itself too small to host a grand prix. In 1980, the Imola track was used for the 51st Italian Grand Prix. [more]

Hey dudes, just did about half an hour of testing in practice mode and my fastest lap was a 1'06.832 This is a real tough track and looks like being the hardest race of the championship so far.

:scared: I take it, thats with Rss/RSs Tires
I tried to work on the setup a little last night. Ran a 1'10.xxx w/ the normal race tires.
This will be a drivers race this week. Keeping it on the paved areas will be a must to make it to the podium.

Fastest race lap's a 1'07.1, and I'm pitting every 9 laps. My rears are wearing faster than the fronts, but I think that's because I'm accelerating in almost all the corners, constrating to Tokyo, where I broke into almost all of them.

👍 👍 :dopey: WWOOOOHHOOOO!!! Micheal won a great close race at his home track from the pole. :sly: :dunce: <<(party hat)

Got my time in. Ran a fairly clean race w/ only one real off, but had a couple slides and tires off hear and there. Pleased with my time, hope its as good as Micheals race was. :scared: :sly:

Fast race lap was a 1'07.642

sorry guys, i forgot about this, not that it matters because my ps2 has gone blind with DRE's :(

anyone have good, simple step by step instructions on how to clean it? i dont even know how to open it.

the feet at the bottom of the console (when you lay it horizontally) can be taken off, and there are screws behind them. I've forgotten where to go from there, though.

google was quite helpfull and i tryed to clean it yesterday but i couldnt get the last two screws out. ill fight with it a bit more today after work.

Sorry for the absence, guys. I'm back and I'm wondering what to do with this series...

Only The Internet and DRIVEN -USA- submitted a race time, so far. I think I'll leave this event open for time submissions until Friday, Apr 28, 11:59. If anyone can get their friends and teammates to get their head back in the game, it would make this series a lot more interesting.

Nurburgring is next, which should be a highlight of the series. I'm looking forward to it. I think I'll post it early and have a signup list to try to get some new drivers onboard.

Just as a reminder, here are all our friends who planned to run the series:

when is the nordschliefe race?
The schedule is in my sig. :)

just started lap 30 of 76 with a fastest lap of a low 1.09. i over shortened the final gear though :|

im pitting at the end of lap every 9th lap (9, 19, 29, etc) my best race lap is down to a 1.08.131 and im banging on the limiter in 7th for a 3rd of the straight before the final hairpin :|

26 more laps to go.

my fastest race lap was a 1.06.798. the ai ruined my last 6 laps. i took 25 units of fuel instead of the usual 30 units (was pitting with 3-4 left in the tank) and the 3rd place ai ran me off the road several times >(

oh well, time will be pm'ed in a moment.

[edit - time submitted :) ]

apparently :|

im curious what east's fastest lap was. probably .001 faster than mine :p

Hehe cool results :), i'm a lil disapointed I didnt get fastest lap but oh well, well done on the win and the fastest lap the_internet 👍

Thanks, east.

What were everyone's pit strategies? I find it hard to believe that with my fl only a small margin better than east's that I finished so far ahead of everyone else.

👍 Finally get results. 2nd Place :dopey: very close between me and EAST, only 9 seconds  after that many laps. I just tried to run a consistant time and keep it on the track. Pits were every 9 laps. Ran mostly in the 1'08.xxx's most of the race.
Congrats to "The Internet" for a fast paced clean race to get that time.

I pit at the end of every 7th lap, with the tyre wear I had it was impossible to go an 8th lap without spinning through one of the flatout corners in the final sector. I did quite a few laps in the 1'06s but the reason I was so slow is because I had loads of incidents with the AI pushing me off track and just getting in the way lol

I was definitely doing something wrong, at Infineon. I'm usually able to push tires longer than most other drivers, but here, I could barely take them 8 laps. The lap before a pit was very conservative with the throttle to avoid a spin.

No AI trouble, to speak of. I just need to figure out why my tires were getting destroyed so fast.

How were you guys handling the right-hander just before the hairpin? On a good lap, I was running flat out in 6th. On a bad one, I'd have to back off a bit, before turning in.

I backed off on that corner, even on a good lap, to ensure I didnt have a pointless accident, I found I didnt need to go flat there to get a good time, if you do it right its possible to go flat right from the double right hand corner down to the hairpin, but like I said I backed off to make sure not to have an accident.

i was pitting every 9 laps, but, i didnt do any sub 1.10s until after my thrid pit stop. then i was averaging .08-09s, then within the last 20 laps i started hitting the .06-07s. but, the ai kept taking me off road and hitting me on my last 6 laps. so, meh.
