It's ben 100 years since the first-ever automobile race with the title "Grand Prix", when it was held in 1906, and won by Franco Szisz, in a Renault. It was held around the town Le Mans (although there is no connection between that circuit and La Sarthe), on public roads. Although little has remained the same in Grand Prix racing in the past century, the goal is the same. With that in mind...

No more Montoya...how will Pedro de la Rosa perform?
How will the "rabbit eared" BMW do?
Alonso, Fisichella, Schumacher, or Raikkonen?

Discuss (before Blake starts a new thread)...

Also the Renault that won in 1906 was using Michelins..

Gonna be a Renault win I think, with Ferrari and maybe McLaren fighting it out for the final podium, I'd like to see De La Rosa put in a good drive as well as Rosberg, he is deffinatley due a good race.

Many teams have also brought upgrades to the circuit including Honda (Aero), BMW (Aero) and Williams who have substancially upgraded their Aero, Brakes and Engine.

This picture shows the difference between Honda upgrades.

Predictions:

1. Alonso (By a country mile)
2. Fisichella
3. M Schumacher
4. Raikkonen
5. Massa
6. Button
7. De La Rosa
8. Webber
9. Villenurve
10. Trulli

i want kimi to win but with renault being french and all, i think they will win.

And good to see pedro racing because i think he is capable of doing better than jpm. Pedro claims he knows the MP4-21 better than anybody else so it might be interesting to see how he does

Going on the whole 1906 v.s. 2006 thing, Szisz came home ahead of Felice Nazzaro's Fiat. Today Alonso is beating Schumacher’s Ferrari (owned by Fiat, of course).

I’m really not a fan of this circuit. :indiff: It’s pants.

As Bee mentioned, the return from America is usually a time when a lot of significant car upgrades debut, and it coulde change the hierachy a little.

Renault also have a new engine for this race (Fisi had it at the USGP, but was not allowed to use full revs because they weren’t yet satisfied with the reliability of the engine. So this weekend both Alonso and Fisichella will have the full benefits of the new engine.

I also expect some upgrades for McLaren, which could bring them closer to the top. 👍

I have not really been looking forward to this race because Magny-Cours has produced some of the most boring races in recent memory. At the same time, Formula 1 is Formula 1 and because of that I will still watch. Hopefully, this year will be a change in the recent run of boring races at Magny-Cours.

I just realised that we haven’t had a laugh at Michael’s clothing yet. ;) This isn’t so bad. But still, who dresses this man?

Isn't the new Super Aguri supposed to be debuted this race? Or is it going to be in Germany now?

Some parts are debuted this race but most of the new car will debut at Germany. :)

Gotta remember to watch this one.

It's also Franck Montagny's last race, before he's replaced by Sakon Yamamoto. Montagny managed to get a one-race extension so he could participate in his home race.

There's something that made me laugh to the floor:

What in the earth is doing Räikkönen in a shirt saying "LET'S GO" in spanish?? Is he supporting Alonso and De la Rosa now??

When you are pulling in the amount of money he makes, does it really make a difference in what you wear? Then again, seriously, does he dress himself? Or is someone doing it for him?

He could be supporting Barrichello or Massa too...

I did'nt understand that whole knockout thing in qualifying, probaly because I did'nt watch the start, if anyone could explain that'd be great.

Ta

Ok, theres 3 sessions, all 15 minutes long, in the first session the slowest 6 cars are eliminated and thats their gird positions decided. In session 2 is the same as session 3, slowest 6 are eliminated and given those as their starting places and then the 3rd session is a 10 car shootout for pole with race fuel and obviously the top 10 positions are decided in this session.

The shirt of Schumacher is not as stupid as these wings.^^

Those wings probably caused 'bad' qualifying spots for those BMW Saubers.

Nah I don't think they have much genuine pace here, Michelins don't appear to help either.

Quali has appeared to set up a good race, Alonso and Schumi both up there, Alonso will feel the loss of his wing man, Fisichella whilst Massa is there to help out Schumi.

And Honda?! What the...

Remember that Rosberg has an engine penalty. So he’ll drop back 10 spots.

Toyota did well. It seems that they’re beginning to head in the right direction, now. 👍

Should be a good race.

Wow, MS can possible win the championship still. Go MS!!

I wonder if Alonso will try the diving move from Indianapolis.

is there any way for me to see the race if i dont even have basic cable or satelite?

Except that they actually do something. *sigh*

Except that they actually do something. *sigh*

so what do they do?

Maybe BMW is going to mount missile pods on those wings:

Why overtake someone if you can simply blast him to hell?
