I bought this thing in March after my custom VQ35 swapped and fully bolted on 95 Maxima was rear ended and totalled. Anyone who has had to go through the process of getting a kbb $2,000 car valued at $6,000 because of a ton of aftermarket receipts will feel my pain. I had about $8,000 in the car, not including my own labor. I decided that I'd rather start off with a fast car than mod one and be stressed everywhere I go with it.💡

This is my first American car. Previous cars were: 1) 1981 Porsche 924 2) 1994 Saab 900s (borrowed from my dad for most of highschool because the Porsche kept falling apart) 3) 1999 Honda Civic SI 4) 1995 Nissan Maxima SE.

When I got it, it was bone stock and actually a tiny bit slower than my VQ35 Max. After the intake, it felt dead even with the Max. After the intake, dyno tune, and 4.10 gears, it felt pretty damn fast.

So heres what I got.

Car:
2006 Ford Mustang GT Premium
Torch Red
5 Speed MT
Leather
Shaker 1000
My-Color gauges
70,xxx miles

Exterior:
SD Mustang Accessories Hidden Foglight Black Billet Grille
Astra-Hammond Aluminum Rear Louvers
Jaeger Mudflaps
35% Tint

Performance:
C&L Street Intake and Filter
Ford Racing Performance Parts 4.10 Differential Gears
Diablosport Predator U7140
GT500 Strut Tower Brace

Wow, glorious car! Those louvres add a lovely touch to an already great design. Congratulations on the lovely motor ;)

How much do you have to shell out for one of these in the U.S.? A good, used GT here in Denmark can fetch $60.000 :ouch:

Wow, I paid somewhere around $15,000USD even for it. I think it had 65,000 miles at the time.

Thanks for the comments. I got the louvers for $50 from a guy in my car club, was too good a deal to resist. For the underhood detailing, I degreased the engine, pulled the intake manifold and then painted it with DupliColor Engine Enamel with Ceramic, Ford Blue of course.

The biggest problem I have had so far was the dealership overfilled the brake fluid reservoir, which is easy to do because the max fill line is actually overfilling it!!! and I had to repaint the area directly below the reservoir and brake booster, but it took me about an hour with some por15, not a big deal.

The other issue I have is I get about 18 mpg overall, but I run it with 87 octane most of the time so its not that big a deal compared with say a 350z with 22 mpg and 93 octane. I had two tunes made, the dynochart is for the 93 octane tune.

Otherwise it is the most reliable car I have ever owned.

$50 for those louvres? What a steal.

The engine detailing also looks great. It's nice to see an engine not completely wrapped in ghastly plastic covers 👍

Just curious, any pictures of the Maxima?

My brother in law has a VQ35 swapped '98 Maxima that he just finished turboing. He's actually in Tennesee this weekend getting it tuned.

That Maxima is pretty cool, I take it you sold it then?

No someone crashed into the back of it 3 days after I got it running. Broke my heart. I didn't have the time to do a shell swap; buy a shell/roller and swap in the wrecked cars parts.

Oh yeah, it was the first car I ever drove too (10 years ago) and it only had 64,000 miles on it when the guy hit it last spring. I got it from my 5 speed MT driving mom.

The best part of the story is that you no longer have to go to maxima.org.
(assuming you were a member there)
