I'll be going for the Corvettes. I usually don't go for Corvette Racing, but I hope one of the customer C6.Rs, or even better, the C5-R takes the win.

Practice begins tomorrow! Double points are up for grabs this weekend. The customer Corvettes are getting ready:

I will edit the entry list soon.

I'll be going for the Phoenix Racing Saleen S7-R.

EDIT: D'you know where I can find live audio, and eve better... maybe even video coverage of the race? (on the internet as I know Speed won't cover this.)

I love the Z4. That most definately would be awesome to compete in ALMS GT2 class.

Awesome, but I hear there's no way to view it stateside. Not even MotorsTV.:guilty:

Any online radio stations?

I don't know of any online radios covering the event, unfortunately. :indiff:

Here are the sites I will probably be checking out:

If you have a good site (or found online audio or video), let me know 👍 I didn't update the first post. It's still the provisional entry list from a while back, so refer to the "Starting Grid" link for a more accurate entry list.

say, here's something fascinating. if the Corvette C5R can win the 24 Hours of Spa, it will have only one endurance race the Viper has won that it hasn't won...the 24 Hours of the Nurburgring. here's how it looks now:

Viper GTS-R
Daytona
Sebring
Le Mans
Petit
Nurburgring
Spa
Corvette C5R
Daytona
Sebring
Le Mans
Petit

if the Corvette C5R wins, then there will be just one more race to Equal it to the Viper.

That'll be the best bet. None of the race will broadcast on American TV and no Online Radio shows seem to be covering it.

FIA's site only states European countries as the ones being covered.

Don't they know that some of us across the pond are interested in this race? ;)

I'll admit, I pay very little attention to the FIA-GT series (aside from finding out the winners). But this is a race I am very interested in.

RACECAR,

What the C5-R will fail to do, the C6.R will be more than capable of doing ;)

While that would be quite a thing to see, can they go farther and top the Vipers in the most wins by a manufacturer in the series?:sly:

In terms of series wins of course. I'm just saying that in terms of endurance race wins, this would be a very incredible feat.

#1 Vitaphone Racing Team Maserati Wins Spa 24 Hours

The winner of 24-hour races are often decided long before the finish, with many laps separating the leader from the rest of the field. This 24-hour race, however, was not decided until the final pit stops of the two leading cars. Eric van de Poele, Michael Bartels, and Andrea Bertolini completed 589 laps in their Maserati MC12 GT1 and finished just under two minutes ahead of the Phoenix Racing Aston Martin DBR9.

The GLPK Corvette C6.R rounds out the podium with a strong 3rd place finish. During the closing stages of the race, the team needed to top up the oil during every stop. With the help of other teams (providing oil), the Corvette achieved its best finish of the season.

From people's reaction to the race (mostly from other discussions), they say that this has been the best endurance they have seen this season. It's a shame that we couldn't see it here in the U.S., or even listen to it online. A close finish during a 24-hour race must have been exciting to watch. I will have more on the other finishers later.

Oh and from what people were saying, the channel that was showing the race in Europe actually cut for a commercial break right before the checkered flag! They returned to their broadcast after the leaders crossed the finish line. They were pretty angry about it.

Well the C5R is a very capable machine compared to the 20th century model Viper GTSR. Mind you if the Corvette ever broke that milestone, I am sure the Viper would make a return just to take double of what the 1st generation did. But I am an american muscle car guy, so my heart is with the C6R and Viper.

I miss the Viper-Corvette battles :indiff: I hope we will see a C6.R vs SRT-10 Coupe battle some day.

The Aston Martins and Maseratis do nothing for me. But if I saw them in person, I bet I'd change my mind though.

The other teams providing oil to the #4 Corvette shows real sportsmanship. That is probably the best side of racing.
