Full disclosure, I'm a GT noob. I haven't before experienced the awesomeness that is the GT-R. Until last night.

I bought myself the '07 GT-R premium and ran the hell out of it on a couple tracks.

That car is a downright dirty beast.
It sticks to the road so well and hauls ass like no other.

I ran a 1:02 on Tsukuba without even really trying. HUGE difference from the Fairlady Z in GT Academy, LOL.

Anyway, I was blown away by that car. Wanted to share.
 
It's an amazing car. Considering it weighs over 3800 lbs it has phenomenal performance. It defies the laws of physics...
 
You wait till you get the Castrol Supra JGTC car. Takes the biggest dump youve ever seen on the GT-R imho.
 
Shouldn't it though? The GT-R is bone stock. The Castrol Supra is tuned up pretty well, right? It at least has a racing suspension package on it.
 
When I drove the GTR '07 around the Nurburgring with only ABS 1, I was surprised at how much grip it had, it was a joy to drive.
Just brilliant!
Brilliant colours to choose from too!
 
There's a trophy form completing the nurb in under 7:30. That's a quick time stock

Is that trophy for any car, or just in the GT-R?

Apparently, in April of '09 they ran a 7:27.56.
Only upgrade was 20" aluminum wheels and Dunlop tires.

That is fast.

When I first did it, I found it really easy.
Then I read the bit that you need to use Sport Hard...
But that was two weeks ago, I have now massively improved at the Nurburgring :)

Sport Hard tyres or lower must be used.

As have I. Been going over the AMG challenges and its done wonders for my recollection of the track.

Which is exactly what I have done!
Before, I just tried to complete it for the sake of completing it. Could only manage Silvers back then.
To get Gold you really need to learn the Nurburgring properly, having all Golds makes me a Nurburgring Expert!
Still more to learn though :D
 
Golded intermediate so far. Not looking forward to driving the SLS in the wet at the limit though

The Wet challenges have far more margin for error.
I beat most of the Sector dry challenges by less than 0.5 seconds.
I beat most of the wet ones by over 0.8 seconds.
Just stay of the usual racing line in the Sector ones, the racing line is too slippery because of rain and rubber.
The lap ones seem to have more grip may be AI cars clearing the rain?

You're talking about a race car vs. a production car. You can't compare them.

The 300SL is far easier to drive around the track than the GT-R, each at their limits. Learn the track in it's sectors in the AMG Challenge, and you'll be able to utilize the power and limitations of the GT-R around there even better. The AMG challenges are quite easy if you ask me, but I think I know the north loop quite well.
 
I don't know, I just hate it with passion. No body roll, no oversteer, no soul.
 
Just wait till you get the Academy GT-R from golding the S License. That version is just wickedly balanced when fully tuned. Because you can't install any aero packages, there is no downforce.

All and all, this car will murder off the line and in top speed (236mph alone on Daytona), along with a literal 50/50 balance in under/over steer.

P.S. I recommend taking off TCS as the car doesn't need it at ANY power level.

That's my biggest problem in those challenges is learning the road and all its quirks. I don't know if I'd agree with you that the 300 SL is easier to drive than the GT-R. That thing grips so well at top speeds with little lean at all and the 300 SL feels ready to fly away at any moment. I guarantee you I beat my times through those sectors by at least 8 seconds on the first run in the GT-R versus the 300 SL.

Yeah, this car, and the Z06 are tops in real life as far as performance/$ goes.
 
It's the car that damn near snapped Jezza's neck. How can you not like a car that finds such a passive-aggressive way to punish a driver for overcooking it?

I agree with you.

I just have a hatred towards this car in this game.

Everytime I run the 'ring online, and theres a HP limit set, people will always pull out the GT-R.

I mean it's quick and what-not but this car takes so "skill" or _____ to drive.
I don't know how to explain it, other than it's a noob car. <IDK>.

It doesn't oversteer, understeer, anything!

Yet, people always use it and get fast lap times on it.

It just annoys me. =/.

I don't know how to explain it.

It's certainly not impossible, but I know the Nordschleife pretty well and it still probably took me 20 laps or so to achieve.

At first you do a reasonably tidy lap and you're still 15 seconds off and you think this is impossible. Then you gradually tidy up each part of the lap and it all starts to come together.

Beating the time was probably to most satisfying thing I have done in GT5. And yes the GT-R is awesome. It feels as though it was designed purely to lap this track (which probably isn't as far from the truth as it sounds)
 
it's a phenomenal car.

love it or hate it, it's a technological marvel.

Nissan did a wonderful job.

purpose built, super car performance at blue collar price.

personally I love it. one of my faves in the game and in real life.

The whole point of a properly built car is to have no oversteer and no understeer. It's supposed to be balanced. Plus it's 4WD so how is it gonna have oversteer? Just watch the top gear were Jeremy drives it at Fuji. It's also only .2 seconds slower than an Ariel Atom 2 300 and .7 slower than a Ferrari Enzo
