Yeah but if you look (and I mean visually) at how much weight the Clio put on in the latest generation it looks like they fed it Big Macs 24/7. So to keep saying it's small and lightweight is abit off the mark, and that's then backed up by the fact and figures which The Cracker supplied and then re-inforced by stating that it is also rather notable under test conditions.

Visually the 197 looks lighter than both the MINI (which in it's current incarnation looks like a Chinese knock-off of the first new MINI) and the Corsa (which looks like the Astra viewed in a hall-of-mirrors). The old Clio was much smaller, but then to be honest apart from the Mazda 2 I mentioned it's a struggle to find any successive model to a previous car that's actually lighter and smaller, so it's a little unfair to single out the Clio for being a bit lardy.

And my small and lightweight comments were in direct relation to the Megane. In this thread, about French cars, I don't give a fig about any of the other hot hatches.

Then this comes down to opinion because I don't think that even the 197 quite strips all the excess fat off the standard Clio design.

Unquestionably it's down to opinion. I'm not keen on the standard Clio but I think the 197 looks great, and even better as the Cup, in white, with black wheels and the small rear spoiler. It hides it's extra size well.

I wasn't quite expecting someone to be that pedantic about everything I said and in those scenarios I generally don't line up streams of facts, figures and magazines in front of me...

It's a quiet Friday afternoon (both here and at work), i have plenty of time to be pedantic ;)

I was just making the point that although the Clio and Megane are well respected in their respective classes, the Megane is widely regarded as probably the best hot hatch around at the moment. And this is why i was a bit surprised that it didn't fair better than the Clio. I suppose outside of europe the Clio has more of an image as a top hot hatch.

I'm really surprised the Clio is beating the Megane, this generation of Clio isn't the king of the hot hatch hill it once was. The Megane is Renault's best hot hatch at the moment.
I was confused by that as well.

Citroen C6 oozes class but doesn't seem to say "I'm better than you, peasant.". Which is why I handed one of my votes to it.

The other vote of mine went to the Renaultsport Megane, because it looks good, it's cheap-ish I believe, and because of those "Everything's a race" ads.

I voted for the Clio and the C5. The C4 would follow closely, but I think the C5 with a V6 would be a pretty good car. And the C6 is too ugly to get my vote.

I'm glad atleast one person voted for the C4. Well done nd 4 holden spd ;)

I think this picture is very misleading, it's obviously a concept version that's much lower, wider and sleeker looking then the actual production model:

Even still I like the C5. 👍

Its still a pretty close race, C5 fans could bump it up and ruin the Renault's day if they all work together. Yay democratic socialism!
