2009 Bulitt Mustang

This Mustang is going to be in the "Bulitt" color (dark british-racing-green type), with tan interior. It is rumored to have about 400 horsepower, and a slight face lift from 2008. It will have a 5-speed manual transmission, at about a price of $35,000-40,000.
 
Personaly, I'd just like it if they released Highland Green as a normal color. Get the "Bullitt" style wheels as an option, that's really all you'd need.

It may be anyone's guess, but I'd say it was spot-on. The color is the most-important part, oh and the lack of a rear-spoiler. The wheels are already available, the interior fits the bill, as I think the only thing that may need modification is the BHP.

My only gripe EVER about the current Mustang (aside from the LRA) is the lack of the correct color of green.
 
Gotta say I don't like that Motor Trend version one bit, but then I do think the original Mustang was always gonna be the best Bullett version.

I don't feel as if the current gen Mustang fits with the Bullett nameplate (or Mach 1 to be honest.)
 
The MT one was wrong. It still had fog lamps. McQue, I mean Bullitt's Mustang had no fog lamps.
 
No, the real GT390 did not have foglamps, but if I recall the story correctly, the car was on-loan from FoMoCo, and when MT asked if they could repaint the car for the shoot, Ford was all for it.

(Don't forget, they had the black 2006 Dodge Charger R/T there too)

...They just didn't want to use that color on a production car, yet, so MT figured they were meaning to redo the Bullitt edition...

IMO, that green is by-far the best-looking color to ever grace any Mustang, ever.
 
kinda expensive

Same price as a 325hp Shelby GT. If you can persuade the dealer into letting it go, that is. I saw a pair for sale in the Autoweek's classified section and they were close to $50k each!
 
Not that I don't like the Shelby GT (its one of my favorite models in the segment), but for the $36K MSRP, thats quite a lot for a car with a LRA and only 325 BHP.

...This is why 'smart' people build their own with off-the-shelf Ford Racing parts for $3,000 over the cost of the car...
 
Or just buy the really-not-any-slower Nissan 350Z.
But the Shelby GT is so comically overpriced for what it is its just funny. As YSSMAN said, anyone with brains can get a "normal" Mustang just as fast for $30,000 out the door. The Shelby GT costs like 40 grand, and thats without dealer mark up (all the more ridiculous as the far faster GT500 is around 45 grand).

I give it another year (and another model in the lineup) before Mustang saturation sets in. At that point, we should expect dealer markups to slow down (at least on the mass-production "specials"), and probably end up with firesales a year after that. There's just so much Mustang hype with the halo models (GT500/GT500KR) right now, people are forgetting that the Shelby GT is not going to disappear from showrooms any time soon. Compound that with all the upcoming variations and you've got more non-special special editions than Jeep.
 
Well, if Ford has done anything smart it is that they keep the special model numbers down, despite having more special variations than anyone else in the business. I believe the Shelby GT numbers were kept below 5000, as were the 2007 California Specials.

Having limited-edition, low-production models brings people in looking for a collectible car, while at the same time drawing people in to not only see the cars, but maybe consider the low-end models as well.

I think the only problem is that too many Ford dealers (well, those here in Michigan) are hooking up their Mustangs with bodykits, stripes, and other add-ons to look like these collectible models, which does nothing to help keep those models special...
