Okay, okay. Anything bad I’ve ever said about any other car, I’m very sorry. So very very sorry. Because this takes the cake. I mean, most of the car looks okay-ish, and the interior looks nice, but that is the most gawd-awful headlamp-grille combination I have ever seen.

Actually, I am growing on it. The front doesn't look all bad. The rear touch-up is fantastic. I like the subtle interior changes most notably the much better steering wheel. I'm going to hold my final judgement when I see and drive one in person. I just hope its RWD or AWD.

But, a preliminary approval rating of 90% is attached to one of my favorite cars ever. The Maxima is my favorite saloon probably as a whole throughout its lifetime.

An even blockier grille than the Accord mixed with headlights that I can't believe are being put on a finished product with a little poor fender integration for looks makes me wonder if Nissan intends on selling any of these.

I like the rear though. It looks a lot like a Civic coupe. The interior is OK. I just hope it doesn't have the same flimsy tilting/telescoping instrument cluster as the G37.

I just hope for Nissan's sake that this car is really good under the metal. Now it's only a matter of time before I start seeing these all over Bellevue.

Wow, it looks like ass. Nissan's styling department has taken a turn for the worse. I'm guessing they'll also visually rape the Nissan Z with this styling directing their going with.

If they could cut off that little extension at the bottom of the headlights, it'd look immeasurably better. It'd also, unfortunately, look Lexus-esque...

Whose hasn't? Although most companies aren't this bad. I think the idea that bland is bad has taken away the option of beauty through simplicity. Some companies are just trying too hard.

The headlights would look very much like the GT-R if they did that. And then if they could possibly integrate a GT-R-esque grille into it, it might make for a very good looking car.

I think design as a whole is kind of going that way. People are pushing to be "Cutting Edge," and "Advancing Art as we know it." It's the same reason three guys dress up in blue make up and bang on PVC pipe, (not that that's not insanely cool...) but, yes, you can indeed try too hard.

Actually, I think it looks really good from the front given they cut off those two extra parts of the headlights.

The side looks ugly, but most Nissans look like crap from the side. Nissan's problem is that they usually have great looking features on ugly shapes.

I love everything but the headlights. They just look odd and do not fit the car.

I used to like the Maxima over the Altima earlier in their lives but now it's completely switched. Ever since the bodystyle before this one.

At least it looks like a proper "full-size" car now, for far too long the Altima was way too close in looks/performance.

A damn-shame it isn't RWD though. That would be awesome if Nissan did it!

If it was RWD, it would kill the G/Skyline.

a similar pic of the 370z came out with those headlights, makes you wonder if that will be the new styling for nissan.

Yep...and seeing this picture of the "New" Maxima really gets me worried about the new 370.

What the heck are they doing over there?

After looking at some of the other pictures, the "swoopy-ness" of the car really matches the Infiniti but the front and back are just awful IMO. The rear light look like they got them from a Yaris...

The design language is called Liquid Motion, which just sounds odd, and only works so well. Oh, and I figured out what it reminds me of:

I'm okay with a cheap Q45 successor...

(baha!)

-> Um, is it me or is that a JDM-spec Stagea sedan we have here:

^ No creativity at all, what happened to the designer of the Altima? Gunned down?! :dunce:

Headlights design is getting weird these days. Functionality or distinction in purpose?

So recap...

Uglyville (tie)

1. Nissan Maxima
1. Toyota Camry
1. Honda Accord
Nah, the Accord and Camry arent ugly. Nothing spectacular, but certianly not ugly. The ford fusion is worse, as is the Malibu. And you forgot the Sebring which out-uglifies even this monsttrosity by miles.

What!?!

The Malibu is easily one of the best-looking cars in the segment, and the same goes for the Fusion (and Milan/MKZ siblings) as well. The Accord sits dead in the center, and the Camry, I'd only rate it slightly above the Sebring.

No no... the Malibu and Fusion are the most god damn boring next to Camry (minus reliability lol), but I think the Camry and Accord are pretty much tied at this point. The Maxima take the cake I decide just now.

It actually looks decent with the new PS lights.

You know, it actually looks pretty good if you view it from the angle most people will be seeing it from, instead of relying on the low-angle artsy-fartsy magazine style shots...

C'mon, there's some coke-bottle action going on... lots of shape in the body... only negatives I can see are the slightly "me too" tail-lights...

Given as how headlight design no longer needs to be constrained by the need to wrap around big circular reflectors, I think it's actually quite an interesting design... and at least it runs with the character lines instead of ignoring them, as on some other sedans.

It's ugly. And looks like the widest section of the car is really high up, i think that's what makes it look so odd.
