For the championships/race series you follow which drivers(or riders) do you see as being crowned a champion this year?

For me personally since I'm into F1, NASCAR, WSBK and MotoGP:

F1: Sebastian Vettel

NASCAR: Juan Pablo Montoya

WSBK ---

Moto GP: Rossi

Overall I can say I'm very confident in my picks based on their 2009 performances

I can't really decide, some series don't have full entry lists yet and its unknown for many series how good certain teams and cars are going to be.
The only thing I feel certain on is that Kris Meeke will take the IRC again.

I don't see Vettel taking the F1 title just yet. Last year he had a very good chance but was hampered by some serious errors on his part as well as bad strategies from the team (inexperienced at front-running I suppose) and a couple of engine failures.
This year he has far tougher opposition than last, he now has to beat Alonso in a Ferrari, Schumacher+Ross Brawn+Rosberg, Hamilton+Button+McLaren and beat Webber. Red Bull have the benefit of staff consistencey though.

I think he's become a little over-rated actually, he didn't really prove himself in 2009, more displayed he had faults. Although its not because his fans keep raving about him, its more that it seems most overlook some quite amateur mistakes last season, he is not perfect and is by no means assured of a championship just yet.

Thats all I can think of for now

My picks:

Formula One: Lewis Hamilton
MotoGP: Casey Stoner
V8 Supercars: Will Davison
WRC: Mikko Hirvonen
24 Hours of Le Mans: Peugeot
IndyCar Series: Ryan Briscoe

F1 Vettel
Moto GP Jorge Lorenzo
WRC Mikko Hirvonen

F1KimiFreak
GranTurismo5: me (lol)

And me... (well, on my own save profile at least)

IRL Danica Patrick ... Ok, that will almost definately not happen (not for a few years at least), but I'm a sucker for a beautiful woman

Personally, I would like Vettel to win the title next year. I kind of agree with Ardius, but I think he has showed a lot of improvement and maturity. It's definately possible considering the points he lost down to daft errors. When you add up the points he lost as a result due to mistakes and poor reliability/strategy, I'm pretty sure he would have been very close to, if not, he would have surpassed Button.

I'm not going to knock Button. The fact is that at the end of the day, he had the most points. I think he has some race wins left in him, but when you consider (if all goes well) that he'll have (in no particular order)Lewis, Vettel, Webber, Massa, Alonso and Schuey to contend with plus Nico Rosberg(who we've yet to see in a good car) Add in to that the possibility of an unlikely team being competitive (i.e. Williams back to form or one of the new teams having a great car, renault back to 05/06 form, Force India (they may not have the drivers, but were fastest through a lot of speed traps last season)) and I don't see him winning a drivers title again.

From the comments I have read (scour the Autosport website) Ferrari don't seem very confident of their competitiveness from the start of the season. Alonso said that it may take 3 or 4 races as did Luca di Montezemelo. Maybe that's just Ferrari trying to lull others into a false sense of security.

Anyway, I'm rambling so I'll cut this short. F1 is shaping up to be very exciting next year. With the grids expanded to 26 cars (and hopefully all of the teams will make it), the refuelling ban making pitstops more competitive between crews (i.e, whatever crew can change tyres quickly and accurately) and the return of a legend (who I've been a big fan of since 1992/3). I can't wait.

V8 Supercars: Will Davison

I also picked him, he pretty narrowly missed out in his first year at Holden, he should be pretty hungry this time around.

I would bet a lot of my money on Rosberg to win the F1 title this year. He's an amazing driver, probably the best on the entire grid, and now that he's found himself a great car, he's got a bright road ahead of him.

Nascar Cup- Carl Edwards comeback and win for '10
Kyle Busch for everything else, provided he runs N-Wide, if not, I guess I'd go with Logano or Hamlin.

F1- Alonso, not saying it's what I want, just saying I think that's what's going to happen.

F1 - Very hard to pick. It is going to be either:
Schumacher - Amazing driver with a car that I think will be in the top 3 of the year. That plus the Brawn and Schumacher pairing once again. We know what that combination means.

Alonso - Seeing what he could do with the Renault last year even if Ferrari doesn't have a top car I imagine he will make it perform as well as it possibly can.

Hamilton - Mclaren started to get things right end of the year. That plus some stability in the team and Hamilton's skill should spell a top contended for the year.

MotoGP - Rossi or Stoner will do it. Ben Spies showed some skill but he will need a year or 2 before he can start going for the Championship I think. He will likely get a few wins in the year though. Unfortunately Lorenzo has the skill but lacks the maturity and sometimes pushes too much.

V8Supercars - I'm going to have to say Whincup puerly because of 888's work on the Falcon. I always believed the Holden was a better car but none of the teams found its full potential. We will see how quick 888 can adopt to it and build something magical.

Can't add anymore picks but hopefully this year I will be following a few new series. I started on FIA GT a bit last year so will get more into that this year as it is quite good.

F1: Drivers - Kobayashi :) (not really) I think Vettel will make a strong challenge for the title this year unless Schumacher is still competitive at the age of 41.
Constructors - As much as I hate to say this, I think McLaren or Ferrari could have a good shot at the title unless there is too much inter-team fighting (e.g. Alonso & Hamilton in 2007).

V8 Supercars: Even though Triple 8 is switching from Ford to Holden :grumpy: I expect Whincup to win his third title in a row. However, I also expect Will Davison to challenge Whincup.
Teams - Going to be close between 888 & HRT this year. The best of the rest I think will be DJR and GRM.

NASCAR: Carl Edwards is overdue for a championship win, but Jimmie Johnson will be hard to beat.

Le Mans: Peugeot looks to be the strongest team, but you can never count out Audi. Aston Martin could surprise this year while Pescarolo will probably be the strongest privateer team.

DTM: I expect Timo Schieder, Gary Paffett and Mattias Ekstrom to battle for the championship.

FIA GT: GT1 - The Vitaphone Maserati and the Corvette team (I can't think of their name) will be the contenders this season
GT2: Bruni & Vilander in the A.F Corsa Ferrari and Westbrook & Collard in the Prospeed Porsche will battle for the title this year, just as they did in '09
GT3: Jean-Denis Deletraz :) (not) The Hexis Aston Martin team will be hard to beat this season.

BTCC: Plato in the Lacetti and Turkington are my top two picks, but Giovanardi and Neal could be title contenders without the Vauxhall backing. Tom Chilton could surprise in the Focus after his pole position at Brands Hatch.

WRC: Loeb will be hard to beat as usual, but I hope Hirvonen can beat him for the title. Sordo, however, is the Rubens Barrichello of WRC, as he is the second driver who is there to back up his team-mate.

MotoGP: Stoner, Rossi, Lorenzo and Pedrosa will be the title contenders, but could Ben Spies challenge the top four or will he be just like all the other WSBK champions who come to MotoGP.

WSBK: I think Haga will be hard to beat this year.

TheStig13, when it come to Ben Spies I clearly see him as being the dark horse and the one to watch.

speaking of, the prediction I forgot to make:

Suzuka 8 Hour: Yoshimura Suzuki/JOMO

V8 Supercars: Even though Triple 8 is switching from Ford to Holden :grumpy: I expect Whincup to win his third title in a row. However, I also expect Will Davison to challenge Whincup.
Teams - Going to be close between 888 & HRT this year. The best of the rest I think will be DJR and GRM.

Murphy and Ingall together should be a top team as well.:trouble:

FIA GT is great to watch but the series has a fundamental flaw penalising success with weight almost guaranteeing the championship contenders will be towards the back of the field at a round after a win.

Please don't hate if you don't agree

F1: Going to be a very open championship with Buttom, Hamilton, Schumacher, Massa and Alonso all challenging but the young pretender, Sebastien Vettel to sneak up on all of them and nab the title at the last race

WSB: After enduring a frustrating two years, james Toseland comes home and dominates to take his third world title

MototGP: Rossi to be his superb best but my tip is going to be little Jorge Lorenzo

BTCC: Plato

WTCC: Not sure, gonna be between Prilaux and Muller

DTM: Paffett

V8 Supercars: Will Davidson

24 Hour of Le Mans (which i will be staying up to watch :) ): Audi with Kristiansen/McNish/Dindo

NASCAR Sprint Cup: Anyone but Jimme 🤬 Johnson

NASCAR Nationwide Series: Cousin Carl to win

NASCAR CWTS: Kevin Harvick

IRL: Helio Castroneves to win the title, Danica to win the Indy 500

ALMS LMP: Brabs and Pagenuad

ALMS GT: Magnussen and O'Connell

24 Hours of Le Mans: Kristensen, McNish and Capello

12 Hours of Sebring: Puegeot, especailly since Audi won't be there

WRC: I hope Hirvonen can beat Loeb, but my money is with Loeb

BTCC: Turkinton

DTM: Paffett
