2010 COTY lists are popping up.

We've got the North American and European lists.

It'll be interesting to see how those play out. It looks like the Americans were lame and nominated pretty much everything that came out this year. They have a lot of narrowing down to do. I'm thinking that one will be between the 335d, the Buick Lacrosse, the Camaro, the Fusion and the GenCoupe. As for the Europeans, I'm pulling for the Polo.
 
So why are they making lists for 2010 car of the year, when 2010 is pretty much 1/2 tear away. A lot can happen in that time!

I know its not decided till 2010, but they will be pretty much looking at 2009 model cars!

Car of the year awards should be held in Decmber of the year. E.g. 2009 car of the year this Demeber.

Damn media trying to change the year.
 
I don't know how it works down there, but here model years usually run at least a half year before the calendar year. So pretty much all the dealers here have their MY2010 cars on the lots. And most of them have had their MY2010 cars available for several months. They've had 2010 Camaros on sale since, what, February?
 
I'd say that for North America, its going to boil down to the LaCrosse, Fusion, Insight and Prius. They're the cars with the greatest amount of promise for their respective brands, and likely the four that will receive the most attention from "regular folks" across the country.
