Ok chaps – onto the next stage of organising this calendar.

I need three things from everybody.

First – I need you to PM GilesGuthrie the legalese (below) with your REAL NAME (first and last name). This is to cover you for copyright and generally straightens everything out legal wise. We will refuse to allow your artwork and yourself to participate in the calendar if you refuse to “E-sign” this legal statement. In this PM, you must also include the 500px version of the shot you intend on entering.

Legalese

In submitting this image, I (real name):
• Certify that I made this image, retain copyright on it, and indemnify GTPlanet and other organisations involved in the production of the GTPlanet Automotive Calendar 2010 from damages arising should this statement be proven incorrect;
• Grant a non-exclusive, non-revocable licence for the reproduction of this image in the GTPlanet Automotive Calendar 2010, accepting that all profits from the GTPlanet Automotive Calendar 2010 will be donated to Jordan Greer for charitable donation in accordance with his will;
• Grant a non-exclusive, revocable licence for the reproduction of this image in association with the marketing and publicity of the GTPlanet Automotive Calendar 2010 and future editions of the calendar as may be required;
• Understand that this does not affect my right to distribute – for commercial gain or otherwise – this image in accordance with the copyright I hold upon it.

Thanks to GilesGuthrie for the legalese. If you have any questions about it, feel free to contact him.

The next thing that I need from everybody is the shot that you are going to use. It must be noted that while the recent polls (TVR&Ferrari_Fan’s is still running) have a decent amount of authority (as its what the people want – hopefully the people buying the calendar), you, the artist, and the owner of whatever you put up, still have an overriding decision as to what you put up. However, it is strongly suggested that you go with, or at least consider the poll voting numbers regarding your artwork and your choice. Please note that some people voted for two or more shots from the same artist – in this case, please contact the individual voter to check if you wish to follow the poll results. The picture that you choose and post on this thread shall be no longer than 500px on the longest side – so basically the smaller version on the nomination thread. These shots will be used in a poll to decide the title cover shot/s.
**If you were going to edit your final contribution, changes should be made before you submit the photo in this thread so that no more changes are made after.**

The third thing I need is for each of you to give us (post here) a ball park figure (as it was a bit vague in previous threads) of how much you think the calendar should go for. The base price is $20 Australian, and I think that includes shipping (Syntax error would be able to shine a light on that) so suggested figures should be over that. Keeping in mind that all proceeds (money made over the $20AU) go to Jordan, who will donate it to the Alzheimer's Association.

Once we have all the shots, a poll will be put up to decide who gets the front cover, and personal email address with be distributed, so that you can send in the highest res copy of your shot.

This thread will also be regarding discussion about payment methods. I have a Redbubble.com account and I’d be happy to sell the calendar and pass the proceeds to Jordan through PayPal, but maybe a GTP Redbubble.com account would be a more feasible option as I think the calendar has the composer on it, with the name of the artwork down the bottom. I dare say “LongbowX by 80Y2C2” would not be satisfactory. :p

Also, there is additional info on the calendars on the website. I initially thought the calendar wouldn’t be too big (around A4), but apparently they’re A3, so that’s a nice surprise :D.

Please be clear about the currency you're working in when specifying a purchase price.

I have the license from everybody, thanks.

Note: Those of you who have just sent me their real name will be assumed to be issuing licenses in accordance with the agreed text (above). I'll put the full license issue text into the document on their behalf. Contact me straight away if this assumption is not correct.

I would buy that cologne, however.

A link would be nice, considering how much you talk about this website. Don't want to go searching for it again. :sly:

And in terms of price, I vote for 2-3 dollars in markup for charity.

I think that one was pretty unanimously the favourite of my options and I'm more than happy with it to go in the calendar 👍 I won't do any more editing. It's perfect as it is

As for pricing wise, I PM'd Giles with it as I misread but basically I'm happy with anything up to about £15 GBP, which I think is comfortably more than $20 AUS anyway (I seem to remember 20 AUS is about 11 GBP, but we'll see how it evens out once everyone has decided on a markup).

Rightyho, I've sent the legalese thingy to Giles so here's the other parts.

This was obviously the most popular shot, so I'm quite happy to go with it. Pricing wise, the normal calendar without mark up is £11.50 for the UK, I think I'd be willing to be paying £15-17 pound, I don't think much more than that because, even if it is to charity, it does then begin to look expensive.

Also, I presume that you only need these 500px longest edge pictures to see what images people are putting in? Seeming the site says that the minimium size of the image for each month is 2182 X 1906 (http://support.redbubble.com/faqs/advanced/how-to-make-calendars).

Sent out the legal PM business.

I hope this shot looks as good in a larger res in print form. But you guys voted, so here it is. I re-edited it, removed the watermark. And I have it ready to go in a high res form.

As for pricing, I'm not entirely sure. With the base price at $19 US, a markup of about 3 dollars would be fine with me. I'd be willing to pay that. $25 at most, but that may be pushing it.

Thanks for the legalese folks. I need the 500px images to add to a Word document that I'll e-mail to Jordan.

I'm content to pay £15 (AU$27) for a calendar.

I'll edit in my final shot in the next day or so.

I'll put that on the OP...Cheers :D.

I'm legal now.

Final

I wasn't even going to put this picture in the final picks, bit I guess people liked it enough.

Price wise though I'm good for anything between $20 and $25 USD.

Coolio 👍.

I recently took something that I think is probably my best work so far, ever....so I may put up a sneeky poll for 2 or so days with that, and the two front runners, just to make sure everyone's good with what I put up.

You sly devil you. Hurry it up though! Have to get this part done with!

As for me, I went with the GT3, instead of the Jaguar. Since I think it ends up in its favour anyway once we tally up the incorrect votes. Also because we have no Porsche representation: not to mention most of the shots are stationary.

Well if you don't count my vote, the Cobra & Lotus actually tied so I'm picking the Cobra shot for the calendar. I hope everyone is cool with that. I'll get the legal stuff done for GG tomorrow as It's a little early in the morning now and I've got a few drinks under my belt

Because you've actualy ordered stuff from there, does the price of whatever you buy include shipping? Does the price change depending on where in the world you are?

Cheers

Shipping is usually extra. In my experience dealing with Redbubble, the cost of shipping is pretty good. Some of their stuff is print off shore like the T-shirts that come from Germany and the cost was the same as their stuff printed in Horsham (Australia) which is considerably closer to me than Europe .

Ah...ok - any numbers for the shirts? The calendars have to be less for sure...

PM sent to Giles.

Just created a test calendar to check shipping price, it is saying AU$5.98 for 10-15 day standard delivery and AU$12.32 for 5-10 day express shipping. I would assume this cost varies depending on location but I can't be sure. Maybe a UK or US resident can confirm this?

Ahhhhh - called "Test"? Did you take it off afterwards? I can't find it now - the link goes nowhere :p.

The company is not based in Australia though is it? I would have thought its in the US (but I don't think its from the UK), in which case $6AU would be around the max shipping price.

Hmmmmm this makes everything harder....

 yup.. I took it down straight after I checked the price. The company is originally Aussie, Victoria based I believe. That's not to say the cost will vary. Maybe Speedster could confirm if he is seeing the same shipping cost?

The final isn't watermarked, obviously.

I didn't PM myself with the legalese, but I did paste it into the document I'm compiling for the J-man

I've edited the second post in this thread listing those who have/have not supplied a license to use their image. Please do this: we cannot print the calendar without it. I shall start nagging soon.

@ 80Y 2C2: I send you the larger version of the R8 shot , seeing how it got the most votes compared to my other shots. Unless everyone would prefer a different shot.

Great! I don't know If I'm the person putting it up on redbubble though, so just hold that thought, because you might need it to be sent to someone else instead.

I think I'm going to choose the Jag wheel.

I know some people will definatly not like this desicion, but here goes.

I know its a wheel shot, but hopefully if everyting is organised (a few people, inlcuding me, might have to shift around months to make sure there aren't any wheels consecutively. If this happens - those who may get bored of wheel shots will not see one for a month or two, so everyones happy.

People may think its a detail shot, but I guess it is, yet I still like it, and I have a soft sport for detail shots.

I reckon the number of wheel shots isn't very high. Keeping it in moderation compared to other subjects and styles I think is more important than numbers. In the same sort of thing, people aren't really getting upset about the number of static shots, or panning or any other type.

I really like this shot. I have a mind to send the calendar oversees to rellies, and I want to show them one of (what I think to be) my best works, and it also won in the poll as well, so other people like it (although I'm aware a greater number of voters for the Porsche were part if the calendar crew).

Also if I chose the Porker, LongbowX would change his to the E type - and I'd much rather the Porker :sly:

Pic to come up shortly

-----------------------------

On another note - I think we should have a GTP account on redbubble.com, as I don't know for sure, but I'm pretty sure the calendar will have a username on it, so I don't think running it through one of our existing ones is the best idea.

Absolutely correct, redbubble account holder's name is visible on the calendar. Best thing to do is make an account called GTPlanet and all images have the actual photographer’s real names as the image title. If a GTP staff member does not want to create a new account I'll happily do it and discuss with Jordan about having all proceeds sent direct to him.

As it will be setup for charity I would go as far as donating a few other of my more popular shots to be made available through the GTP redbubble account for purchase as (only as) framed prints with a GTP logo and clearly marketed as a non profit charitable purchase.

I never said I would change it to the E-type. Heh. While it is close with votes, I don't like it as much and I likely would have picked the F430 or Vette shot. I was actually leaning towards the Vette because of the lean towards Euro cars.

That's not a bad idea, we should explore that idea. Photos for charity. I would happily donate some of my work as well. Perfect for great shots that might not have made it in to the calendar as well.

Change it too the leaping Jag and you've got a deal......camaaaaaaaan - you know you want to :sly: j/k

It isn't, but there'd be more legal implications, so I reckon people focus on the calendar anf get it out of the way. Maybe afterwards, someone could make a thread with the legal junk and what to de etc, but I think we have to get crackin' with the calendar first 👍.

We'll agree to disagree then I think... I seem to be the only one who has an issue with it so I'll keep quiet.
