Just when i thought it was finished, Hyundai refresh it, and it looks quite nice, the look of a Volkswagen phaeton nice and conservative. Nice sharp businessman in black suite lines, look very proffesional, think 2009 sonata but alot bigger.

I read on a korean hyundai forum, that this new model, has paddle shifters, a sport mode, Real wood trim, Real Aluminum trim along alcantara brand petite leather seats. with a equss like Analog clock(Classy)seems like this new grandeur aint playing around, i really hope this happens with the US spec azera.

I think it looks bloated, and that's a horrible, horrible name. The only logical next step would be the "Hyundai FancyCar".

What is this Hyundai you speak of?

The only one I've liked so far is the new Genesis (congrats to Hyundai for finally making a head turner).

Looks like a lazy refresh to me. Hate it. Hyundai's new Fluidic Vomit style is a big mistake.

I had to refresh my memory on what the "Azera" was...

I think it's probably time for a mid-cycle refresh. I donno if that particular car is it though. I also think they should call it the Hyundai The Luxury Grandeur like they do in Korea.

I actually like it. It does not look too futuristic. But though it does look like a Saab.

Is it just me, or does it look like it should be an outdated Mazda, or maybe a Buick?

Yeah, I don't think it's up to par with other nicer designs they've been coming up with. Omnis hit the nail on the head, I think.

I vote "meh." Why the Azera even exists anymore, I've yet to understand.

it feels a void in between the new sonata and genesis, ...even though the new sonata is almost the same size as an azera..

Hyundai class fighting strategy. E.G.A.S

Equss=Mercedes s class,Lexus LS, Audi A8, VW phaeton etc.

Genesis= 5 series, lexus Gs, Mercedes E class etc.

Azera=Toyota avalon buyers, ford taurus, nissan maxima, mercedes c class, bmw 3 series, VW passat, audi s4 etc.

Sonata= Honda acord, chevorlet malibu, toyota blandry i mean camry, nissan altima. volkswagen CC, mazda 6 and so on.

Well we get your Azera labeled as 'Grandeur' already, so it wouldn't surprise me if this was a general replacement. Or rather a misguided facelift. Not sure why they've decided to start using the UK name, though - they sell about 3 a year over here.

Right. But there really isn't much of a void there to begin with. Really, even at all. Especially when Hyundai seems to think they're moving the Sonata upmarket even further. The redundancy is about on-par with what the Buick dance is right now with having three cars that are all about the same size (Regal, LaCrosse, Lucerne) and all do the same thing (move people along quietly for not much money).

Azera=Toyota avalon buyers, ford taurus, nissan maxima, mercedes c class, bmw 3 series, VW passat, audi s4 etc.

Problem:

This should read more like --> Toyota Avalon, Ford Taurus, Buick LaCrosse, Nissan Maxima, and really... That's about it.

All of the cars listed there, perhaps with exception to the Avalon, are so substantially better than the Azera, even with a "refresh," that you would have to have your head examined to be that daft in making the decision. Especially with the Taurus and LaCrosse.

That's where the Hyundai price comes in.
True but then again i see where every one is coming from, Seems to me like the new sonata is pretty much the size of a azera. I guess Hyundai wants to keep it in the line up due to volume of up scale models. that or they just do not want to drop it, For me, i see alot of azeras driving on the streets here, 10-15 a day, seems to me like their doing pretty good. though i still see more genesis and sonatas.

Looks like another chintzy refresh. Which is really just a way of making it look 'less old'

And isn't it funny how they almost always fail. Mazda 3 went from one of my favorite designs on the road, in both sedan & wagon forms, to OMG, WTF is that!? in no time.

Honestly, with the Mazda3... While it is a total fail (generally speaking), it really depends on the color to make it look good or bad. My boss' 2.5S looks good in the deep red with the black interior. But I've seen white and blue ones that look absolutely horrible. Its a shame, because mechanically speaking, its still one of the best cars you can buy in terms of feel and performance. The Nissan Sentra is almost like the exact opposite. I think it looks awesome on the inside and out, but it performs terribly. Why God, WHY?

To me, Azera is not meant to be in the same group as the MercC and BMW3, AUDI-a4. and vice versa, for everything else you have listed, it is ok.

And Sonata against VolksCC?? no! probably an error or a typo on your part there... you meant the Passat instead.

As for the Genesis, personally, i dont agree with everyone for comparing it with the 5-E-GS-A6 class of cars....
To me, the Genesis is a car that seats in the middle of and between the 7-S-LS-A8 and the 5-E-GS-A6.... Being sizewise and quality (slighly under par with) the upperclass, but priced at the middle luxury class... but i dont mind to be wrong on this.

i agree with you here...
but personally, if i had to choose, i would rather have the Avalon rather than the Azera/Grandeur.

The look of the Azera is pretty old fashionned (because it's mainly destined for a mature-r shopper, 50+ year-young, which is the same demographics the Avalon is aiming at)

and if you notice on the Autoblog website, the release photos of the Azera only shows the front... what about the back?! same thing as before? if anything just the right light are changed i would guess...with same ugly looking rear!

overall, the Azera has never been a car that i would buy (always have found it ugly), so really i dont really care if they update it or not (based on the photos here) The changes are not significant enough, although there is some front end improvement... close but no cigar yet...

cONgratulations on the Genesis tho ! 👍 More of those please Huyndai!

It looks exactly the same as the other one.
