Some apparently press shots of the new 9-5 are out now.

I'm pretty impressed with this car. The front grille might be a bit strange, and I think the airplane gyroscope speedometer is stupid, but I don't think there's anything else I can complain about with it. 👍 to Saab.

Yay Saab for getting back to stylish, unique cars, I love the quirkiness of the profile. I love the way this looks, inside and out.

What I do not like about all the latest new models by any manufacturer is that all the grills seem to be designed to make the car appear smiling. This is what I really don't like about the grills with this newest Saab.

No thanks, I'll have this one instead:

That is just so, so stunning!

I love everything except the back and the interior, which look like they came off a Chinese knock-off or something. What's with those air conditioning vents?

Saab has always had those vents in their cars. Although I don't like how the grating carries over across the instrument panel. I do like the grille of the car that Bram posted better though.

I love how aggressive it is, but I'm with Bram on this one.

Edit: After actually going to the autoblog posting, and after seeing more shots of the interior and dash, I actually like it a lot. I love how practical the car is, but still really really sporty.

I really like this. It looks like... a Saab.

Not feeling the love for the Insignia-nicked steering wheel, though.

I like it. It seems odd in all the right places to seem like a true Saab. I especially like the oddness of the C-Pillar.

But..but... I like the old 9-5!

I can't handle channnnnge.

I think you might have to be emo to like something wearing as much eye liner as the old 9-5.

In person that 9-5 model always hugely impressed me, although it doesn't live up to that image when looking images of it on the internet. For me the best looking 9-5 combination is this one:

I love those rims, and I think they give the 9-5 mainly its good looks. If I were to pick my three favourit Saabs, however, it would be an early 90's 900 turbo convertible in yellow, a '95 900 turbo in dark blue, and the latest 9-3 convertible in white. As you can see, I think the whole 9-3 line-up doesn't give the 9-5 line-up a chance when it comes to looks, neither does it with any other sedan or convertible from any manufacturer, with the Lexus IS 350 as an exeption to that.

The new 9-5?

YES PLEASE.

I think it looks fantasic. Easily better than, I dunno, a 5-Series, and so much more interesting than an Audi A6 or Merc E-Class. There's a hint to the shape that very much reminds me of this:

I have always loved that 900. It literally looks like it's wearing glasses which have been repaired with tape! So quirky, and so unfathomably nerdy, it's kinda cool.

The new car needs just slightly stranger wheels, then I'd love it. At least, I'd love it by the lower standards of modern cars. There's nothing they can do to beat the current 9-5.

I think they finally got it this time around: for a Saab to be a Saab, it must be quirky...it must be Swedish.

Looks about right, but I have to wonder what the bonus will be against the likely cheaper Buick LaCrosse. Still, its a return to Saab glory otherwise. I look forward to more details.

Clearly, the Buick isn't a Saab and the Saab is. :dopey:

I imagine it'll also be a bit more performance oriented as well.

That's it. I can't handle it anymore. I'm officially declaring myself a Saab fanboy. THE VENTS ARE LIKE MY VENTS1111

The exterior looks great, especially at the front, but what happened with the interior?! Did they run out of money when it came to the vents? They completely ruin what would have been a brilliantly designed interior IMO.

Yes, I am fairly certain that the vents were designed like that. The old 9-5s have them. My buddy's 9-3 has them.

So what does the gyro horizon thing actually do?

I think it acts as a digital speedometer. That would make sense I think. Unless it measures body roll in the corners, which would be even worse than a speedometer I think.

Nooo! They're design classics!

Whats wrong with the vents? Saab vents have always been pretty much like that, it's a design feature.

Maybe Moglet was on the vent grille design that flows over the whole dashboard, which I agree with, looks absolutely horrific.

If it is that I don't mind it at all. It's different. You're never going to mistake a Saab interior for anything else.

They don't even appear to have been designed, more drawn onto a napkin with a crayon by a 4 year old and then put into production.
