Alright I need some answers some of my buds seem to rip into this new car, saying it's too chic too be a sport sedan. Well, I need to know if you'd purchase one.
Remember
CXS-182hp
CXL-220hp
GS-260hp (est.)
Also the Opel Insignia?Vauxhall thing, I'm not too knowing on that, as I live in ****hole America.
All I know is that they are similair in design, but powertrains are changed, with the insignia getting the 2.8L Turbo Six.
Again, would you buy one?

It's a luxury sport sedan, a class that's anything but compact.

As for the Regal, they are getting great reviews. Personally, I'd only settle for the GS.

Again, what do you think?

I think that they're car trim levels and horsepower ratings. What's the question?

Also as Smallhorses says:
"Less power=more fun"

In the case of Vauxhalls, less power = less understeer and slower.

The only question I can see is the thread title:

No. No. Thrice no. It is, despite the name change, just a new Vauxhall Vectra, and the new Vauxhall Vectra is only ever a good car when considered against good cars from two generations ago - or to put it in North American terms, the Buick Regal's about equal to the Ford Contour.

Yep, it's not even remotely a sport compact, and even when it's not it's not that amazing. I'm not quite as harsh about the car as Famine is (also Insignia, not Vectra, though I suspect he was using Vectra as a derogatory term...) as I don't think it looks too bad, but there's nothing remotely sporty about it, and over in Europe it's outclassed by most of the class it competes in.

Given that you can get Accords and Mazda6s over there, I'm not quite sure what would tempt anyone into getting a Regal other than patriotism or the fact you've bought Buicks all your life.

As for the Smallhorses quote, I'm not quite sure how it's relevant here. I don't suppose that any of the available models are what I'd call fun, but if I had a gun pointed towards my genitals I'd pick the most powerful one available simply to ensure it's a better motorway car.

I included the name change from Vectra to Insignia, as well as Vauxhall Insignia to Buick Regal. If it weren't for the marketing department saying "Yeah, but everyone associates "Vectra" with mediocrity now", it wouldn't have a new name.

Though amusingly it's sold as the Chevrolet Vectra in South America.

I wouldn't buy one, but I could probably rent one without say... setting fire to the Hertz office in a depressive rage.

Probably, anyway. Unfortunately I'm allergic to the slime that covers each and every Vauxhall salesman, so I couldn't possibly test drive one to confirm it.

Didn't you buy the SporK from a Vauxhall dealership? :p Or did you just drive one from there?... If so, how are the symptoms coming on?

No no, I drove 4 SporKs in total, 2 of which were from Vauxhall dealers ;) I bought mine from a teeny tiny garage for £1700 less than either slimeball would negotiate down to.

Oh and I'm still on a course of antibiotics, thanks for asking.

I would LOVE one, so as long as we got the SportTourer. There is a possibility, as Opel badged ones have been spied at GM's Oshawa plant.

I had a look at the German-built Regal CXL with the standard 2.4L DIG engine recently and I came away very impressed. The look is very nice, certainly a bit more distinctive in the segment compared to the standard VW Passat and the Acura TSX. I really liked the interior, the seats were comfortable while being supportive. The only complaint was that it didn't have the optional six-speed manual, but I was informed that when they get one, I can probably drive it.

Anyway, would I want one? Certainly. I would prefer to wait for the GS version to drop, but I think I'd be happy with a turbo CXL when those show up later in the year. The turbo 2.0L is a real sweetheart of an engine, and even though it is in a more de-tuned form, matched with the new electronically controlled suspension, it should be a lively entry-level luxury sedan that is worthy of the Regal name and the $30K+ sticker price.

look heres the deal-just tell me if you'd buy one
Buick Regal/Opel Insignia
Also sorry for the confusion normally when i hear about it people say compact but no you're right it is a sedan
truthfully i like the insignia better but in USA we dont have opel so i gotta deal with buick
just tell me if youd buy one. this opinion is probably going to determine if i will buy one or not

Not if I had a choice.

This thread is kinda useless without pics. I'd look it up, but by the sounds of things, it would just be a waste of time.

Of course I would. I'd love a CXL Turbo but a GS would just be awesome.

That is sexy.

Thank you Cale finally one good response all the others are just blasts about the Euro-spec Opel/Vauxhall
And yes, that car is sexy.

See, pics! Now what SRV2LOW4ME

I would like a Vauxhall Insignia. However, I would then stop myself. There are too many Vectra/Insignia's on the road and I wouldn't want to be another sheep, mindlessly following the crowd. If I was buying a mid-size saloon, I would choose either an Alfa Romeo 159 or a Citroen C5.

P.S. If I find a picture of an Opel Insignia Buick Regal with American flags in the picture, I will make a demotivator with the tagline 'Irony, there's nothing more American than a German car'.

That's because that's what the Regal is. An Opel. No amount of sheetmetal modification will change that.

It could be worse. It could be a... gasp... Daewoo.

*How can you tell your Chevrolet or Suzuki is actually a Daewoo?

-Simple: It drives like a brick, drinks gas like a brick and depreciates like one, too. :D

...which in some cases is built in China. That said the 2011 one is apparently going to be built in Canada, but the current ones are built in either Germany or China.

If you only class a "good response" as one that doesn't knock the car, why are you asking at all? It sounds rather like your mind is already made up.

The "Euro-spec" is the same car. It's an Opel Insignia. In the UK it's sold as the Vauxhall Insignia. In the US (and China) it's sold as the Buick Regal. Same car, new badge.

And you wait until you see one on the road. "Sexy" isn't the word. It's one of the dullest cars on Earth. As I said, back in February:

The Insignia bores the crap out of me. It's borderline dangerous as it induces narcolepsy whenever I see one. Any car designer who checks out the Toyota Avensis and thinks "Hey, yeah! That's the look we need! Though... maybe tone it down a bit?" needs shooting in the hands, eyes and gentleman vegetables.

-> I'd get one...if they bring this:

^ An alternative to the un-attainable S4 Avant, RS4 Avant, RS6 Avant.

^ And make mine, MANUAL TRANSMISSION! :grumpy:

Actually the 'signia has now been out-Avensised by the Renault/Samsung/Dell Latitude:

I mean come on Renault...

You know what? Never mind. As I canm see people can't answer a simple question based on what they think of a car. And for the last time, I live in America, so I don't give a -beep- about Opels or Audis. Yes, I know they have cars from other manufacturers-there is no car class that only has one car in it- and yes I'm somewhat biased but jeez I don't want to here of Sporks and Vauxhalls and whatever else you Europeans drive. If you lived in America, would you buy a Buick Regal!?

Decent looking, but looks more luxury than sport. I'd drive one if I was 40+, but since I'm not, I'd probably only drive it if someone gave it too me.

Just my 2 cents.

I know that the Euro isn't the same, no offense Famine. European cars are built to a higher emissions standards, so many have diesel engines that can produce astounding mpg and range in excess of 800+ miles. The Insignia OPC has the 2.8T V6 From the Saab 9-5, Cadillac SRX, among others. And I hate to be mean, but chill out Famine. Just cause I asked doesn't mean your opinion is gonna change my thought. The Turbo doesn't come out til September, so there's a lot of time. Yes, you are a super moderator and I repect that but please man, chill. And for the last time, me no care for Vauxhall.
