When you buy a suit from George (Asda/Walmart) is has the good sense to have the brand label on the inside where no one can see it so it just looks like a smart suit. No one need know it only cost you £40.

When you buy an impractical coupé car that's meant to be stylish and cool, putting a Skoda badge on the front would somewhat seem to defeat the purpose.

This might have been true a few decades ago.

Skoda these days is basically VW and most people know this. A few people may remember them as the old skoda, but I doubt it's the case so much these days.

They are known to be as reliable mechanically and structurally as VW, but they are still seen as the poor mans, cheap, basic, no frills, lesser quality, less refined vehicle. And that observation would be correct.

No it's still true. Guys can try and kid them self that everyone knows it's a VW underneath, and this may in fact be the case, but the brand stigma is deeply implanted in people's consciousness.

Driving a Skoda is not sexy.

'Joyster'?

Oh for the love of God. First the 'Yeti' and now this.

The front of it looks awesome, really like the way Skoda is going.

But then I saw the picture of the back... what the 🤬 were they thinking when designing that! Really don't like the back of it, the tail lights are already too big and then they even 'combine them as one' (don't know the word for it :D). The back really messes up this car in my opinion.

No issues with Skoda's image in the UK IMO.

Cars like the Yeti, Fabia and Octavia are all very highly rated by the motoring press and I see plenty of them on the road.

I know which I'd choose if given the choice between a boggo 2.0d Golf and a VRS Octavia.

They are the same price £21k each.
After 3 years the VW is worth £10k and the Skoda is worth £8k. Ouch!
That's one reason not to get a Skoda.
Better to get the 170bhp 5dr Golf GTD for £25k, after 3 years it is £13k saving £1k more than you would if you got the VRS.
