Looks great for starters.
Jalopnik (2015 Honda Fit: This Is It)
This redesigned Fit — known as the Jazz in other markets — is really big deal for Honda on several fronts. Automotive News says it represents an attempt to rejuvenate their styling, which has become admittedly staid in recent years.

It's also their chance to finally score a big hit in the hybrid market beyond the Civic Hybrid. Attempts like the CR-Z and Insight haven't really caught on with buyers the way the Toyota Prius line has. The last Fit itself was kind of a slow-seller here as well.

The 2015 Fit Hybrid packs a 1.5-liter, Atkinson-cycle engine coupled to a 22-kw electric motor and battery. It will carry a brand-new seven-speed dual clutch transmission. And unlike Honda's current integrated motor assist hybrid system, the new hybrid drivetrain allows driving in electric-only mode, AN reports.

There will be a sedan and crossover variant. No word yet on the RS version.

Previous gen was much better looking and rejuvenating the brand image isn't going to happen with hybrids.

Far too over-styled... certainly not an appealing model :yuck:

I admit, the front end looks hideous :yuck:, but the rear end, IMO, looks amazing. 👍

It looks like a baby sneaker for one of Michael Bay's Transformers.

I really don't like it.

The last model was a little bland but the Fit/Jazz was never meant to be anything fancy.

This is way too overstyled though, it still looks like one of those one-off concept cars that never sees the light of day. And it doesn't fit the personality of the car.

It's alot like what they did with the Type R, I feel. The old one was alot better.

No buy from me.

EDIT: It also looks like somebody ran a knife down the whole side of the thing.

Joining the others here on the "overstyled" consensus. Far too many different surfaces, lines going nowhere, random bits of trim and so-on.

A lot of people have been saying for years that Honda has lost its way. I've not entirely agreed - the Euro-market Civic is better than ever, as is the CR-V, I found the CR-Z great fun when I drove it last, the Accord is still a decent car and the current Jazz/Fit is still one of the most practical vehicles in its class, which was always the aim.

Okay, so there'd been a bit of a paucity of sporty stuff in the last few years particularly, but a Civic R is on the way in Europe and the Mugen CR-Z was supposed to be a lot of fun too.

But looking at the styling of this Fit does make me worry for future Hondas. Even if they get more exciting, I can't be certain they'll actually look decent.

not a fan but, it's the design of today.

sad to say, when I worked for Subaru and Mazda, both regional service managers from those marques said the same thing about new car design. they have to make things hard for the people that copy the non-original body parts. all cars world wide seem to follow the same design patterns. the front of the E63 looks the same as the BMW 3series. all these cuts and angles in cars nowadays. its like the Taurus/Nissan Altima/Jaguar S type/Infiniti J30 all had the bubble cockroach design. I wonder when rounded edges will come back.

Rounded edges will never come back because they're not aerodynamic.

What I wonder about is whether bumpers will come back. If someone drives into the back of your new Fit, you're going to need not just new rear fascia/bumper, but also a whole new liftgate and possibly new light housings.

What a stupid design.

This car is possibly the epitome of all that is wrong with modern car designs: overdone, badly proportioned, no flow at all. Like a person trying desperately hard to attract attention yet failing miserably at keeping that attention for any length of time!

Huh. I don't see what you guys are seeing. Many of the cars being produced today look so much better than they did in the past decade ('00s). That was a period of messy, nebulous shapes and ugly proportioning. Although manufacturers are continuing to utilize complex surfaces and details, they now have a more "solid" appearance, like the body was carved from marble, instead of looking like something that half-melted in the sunlight and fried its headlights like eggs. I think this design is more interesting and exciting than its predecessor.

At the same time, I agree with Omnis, I wish cars had actual useful bumpers again.

I'm sure it'll grow on my but besides the Fit, Honda has really gone off the deep end. The only other thing they've got going for them is the new Accord which looks good. But unless they've redesigned the driver's seat I'd never consider getting one. My mom's 2012 is equipped with the most awful chair I've ever sat in. And besides that, the interiors aren't nearly as clever or handy as they used to be. And besides that, the 4-cylinder engine has the most awful torque curve for a behemoth sedan.

Funny you say that. Completely unrelated car, but the CR-Z has one of the most uncomfortable seats I've ever sat in. Just doesn't seem to work for my body shape at all. Huge pity, because I really liked that car otherwise. If I ever owned one I'd be pretty much forced to put a decent Recaro chair in there or something.

On the flip side, the Euro Civic and the current CR-V were both really comfortable for me.

2014/15 Honda Fit - Will it FIT in?

Well I definitely think not, the style of the car seems much too over done. But the real question is... Will it blend?

Allow me to be the guy to say that I like it. A lot. This has to be the most-interesting design I've seen come out of Honda (for North America) in quite some time. Based on the Motor Trend article, it really seems like they're passionate about making it a much better car than the previous... Of which I really, really disliked compared to it's predecessor. It seems like Honda is willing to go on a limb, take a chance, and I have to give them credit. I'd argue that this is the segment in the US that has the closest competition between each brand, and by all means, I think Honda stands a chance to lead the pack once again.

My only concern? Pricing.

Of all the cars in the B-Segment, I really do not feel like the Fit has been a solid value, even though it carries a good bit of standard equipment. Something like the Fit RS, sitting up there at the top (and being what I'd like most), it'll probably start around $20,000... Exactly the same price as the Ford Fiesta ST.

But, all glory to Honda for seeming to build a car that is a part of their previous DNA. It's been a long time coming.

If they make it handle, I can see the appeal. But the styling really doesn't gel with me.

A few people have used the word "interesting", which I think says it all. I use that word for the Nissan Juke, which I quite like (and many hate), but "interesting" is really just code for "an acquired taste" For me, the Fit above is one of the most uncomfortable-looking cars Honda has ever produced. No rhyme or reason to the shape whatsoever. The current-gen may not be much to drive, but it's a far cleaner, better-proportioned vehicle.

I actually agree, it's trying too hard to look sporty but everybody knows it isn't. 👎

The first was so good, I have to hope they've gone back to that formula with the RS. They have to, really, if they're going to be anywhere near competitive with the updated Fiesta and the still surprisingly-good Sonic.

Although, we're still waiting on the next-generation Mazda2...

The design has grown on me since i first saw it.
I quite like the swage lines, but the things i don't like are the: side skirts, and those skirt effects on the rear flanks, rear light clusters (reflectors in particular) just doesn't seem to flow with the tail gate, and my pet hate (of most cars TBH).. the wheels seem to be far too inboard. Apart from all that, i don't think it looks too bad, and it seems quite consistent with the rest of the current brand (imo).

Not an attractive design, to me. But if it drives well and is well packaged, with good ergonomics, then I like it.

I personally like most of the styling, apart from the front fascia/headlights area. That looks a bit too overstyled.

But, if it drives well I might well have to take a look at it with the GF for her first car. The last Jazz was a pretty good thing to drive.

Yet another "throw random crap on the car and see what sticks" design. Not that the Fit was ever that much of a looker.

The first-generation Fit Sport wasn't bad looking. It's aged pretty well, I think.
