While the standard sports suspension and adaptive chassis are shared between RS and RS245, the latter adds an electrically operated mechanical limited-slip differential (LSD) and ups kerb weight by 25kg to 1371kg.

Both share a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The Octavia RS’s powermoves from 162kW to 169kW – the same as the previous RS230 – between 4700rpm and 6200rpm, while torque is unchanged at 350Nm between 1500rpm and 4600rpm.

The auto RS dashes to 100km/h in 6.8 seconds, while the wagon does it in 7.0s.

The power for the RS245 moves up 11kW to 180kW, achieved from 5000rpm until 6700rpm, while torque tops out at 370Nm between 1600rpm and 4300rpm.

The manual and auto RS245s can both skate from zero to 100km/h in a claimed 6.6 second – one tenth better than the RS230. The wagon is a tenth slower.

The diesel RS, dubbed Octavia RS135, is slower at 7.9s (liftback) and 8.0s (wagon). However, with combined cycle fuel consumption of 5.0 litres per 100 kilometres it is also thriftier than petrol RS (6.5L/100km) and RS245 (6.7L/100km).

Skoda includes a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty and three-year/45,00km service package at a $1300 up-front cost.

Horribly overpriced for a Golf wagon.
Now, move the goal post and compare it to an A3 or A4 Avant.
Problem is, "VW" don't make a comparable hot wagon. Even the diesel Skoda has more power than the Golf wagon. It comes in "base" RS variant as well( $40-$42k, add $20k and you get an S3 Sportback). Compared sales to the GTI, the RS cars sell better. For Australian money, it's good value.

I always liked the wagon. It is not yet available. I mean, the configurator doesn't show the RS245 wagon version.

You can choose between a manual and a DSG, which is a very good thing.

The wheels are :yuck: and it is not possible to choose different wheel (configurator).

Been some super cheap leases on these in the UK last few months...

3+23 at c.£225/month.

Cracking car for the money.

If you had said 20 years ago that a Skoda would retail for 40k everyone would've been rolling on the floor laughing.

They're £30k here. But in a world where a base 1ltr 5dr Golf is £18.5k, that doesn't seem too bad.

And it wouldn't be even close to the most expensive Skoda made. The Superb 280 4x4 in L&K trim is a solid £38k (in either body style), while the much bigger Kodiaq tops out at £37k with the 190TDI engine.

And the L&K Octavia is already £200 more than the RS245.

Not entirely sure this deserves its own thread simply because the boat has finally made it to Australia.

The 245 has been known of since April in Europe and was launched back in June. I drove one myself about two months ago (great car, but I'm not sure I'd have started a thread about it).
