If RB doesn't win and get back into WDC territory those rumours will come back. I'm pretty sure this new contract will have even more exit-clauses. All this "I will leave F1 under these regs", holidays with Toto, etc. etc. give some kind of bad taste like Team Verstappen pressured RB into more millions and clauses for everything they dreamed of in a contract.

Or maybe its just that their current 2026-regs car isn't quite so attuned to Verstappen's own particular driving style?

There's been too many previously well-regarded drivers in the number two Redbull seat that have failed to get close to his times for it to be a coincidence.

If he wants to be an F1 driver (and not a reserve). The only teams left with realistic 2027 openings are Haas, Racing Bulls and Aston Martin.

I get the impression the new Red Bull Management isn't keen on repeating the controversial decisions Horner and Marko did so I don't think Ocon even has a chance to go to Racing Bulls.

And with him leaving Haas, that literally only leaves him potentially...with Aston Martin. That now means he has to ask himself a question: Is he content with being in a backmarker (Especially one who's had a spectacularly bad time this year AND is effectively THE Nepo baby team) JUST to stay in F1 or is it better to just leave the sport with no better option realistically existing?

Wow... thats interesting. Do you think one of the open seats would go to Tsunoda.. maybe to Aston Martin if Alonso leaves ?
 
Is Toto still his manager? If so I think Mercedes reserve is his only hope. Otherwise he’s out.
 
Ocon is a good driver but he's been around for 10 years, it's time. All the teams know what their getting.

I think endurance racing would be right up his alley.
