BMW's first defeat in the Manufacturer's Championship since 2015
BMW have got to stop ******* around and sponsor the BTCC properly enough to get 3 top drivers. Nothing against Jelley, I've met him a couple of times and he's a really nice guy, but we need drivers that can take points off the likes of Cammish and Robo as a matter of course.

All confirmed.

BMW's first defeat in the Manufacturer's Championship since 2015 and first time since 2014 that the Manufacturer's Championship hasn't been won by BMW or Honda.

First time since 2003 that none of the Independent Drivers won a race.

Ash Sutton has scored 446 points in all, a new record, beating the previous record of 434 set by Turks in 2014.

I think that about raps it up.

ROLL ON 2024!
Also the first time since 2002 that the manufacturer that produced the Independent Driver's Champion didn't win a race outright (Dan Eaves in a Peugeot though that manufacturer is famous, or should that be infamous, for never winning a race. Production Class Pugs came 1st on the road on 4 occasions in 2001 but these don't count).

Daryl DeLeon is the first driver to race under the licence of a country outside of the British Isles to score points in the BTCC since Robb Holland and Alain Menu in 2015 and the first to race under the licence of an Asian country to do so since Erkut Kizilirmak in 2008, or failing that, Moto Kitano in 1973.

New qualifying format for the BTCC in 2024 and beyond.

Britain’s biggest championship introduces exciting switch for Saturdays.

The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship has today (23 October) announced an exciting change to its qualifying format, which will be in operation at every race weekend during the 2024 season and beyond.

The BTCC’s ‘Quick Six’ qualifying will feature three short segments, creating further interest for fans in attendance and the hundreds of thousands more that will be able to watch every qualifying session and race live via ITV Sport.

The format – similar to the one successfully used in IndyCar – will comprise the following:

After Free Practice Two (FP2) the cars will be divided into two groups.

Those that finished FP2 in odd position numbers (one, three, five and so on…) go into one group and those that finished FP2 in even position numbers (two, four, six and so on…) go into the other group.

Qualifying 1
Each of those two groups contest a separate ten-minute session
The fastest six cars from each group advance to Q2 ‘Top 12’

Qualifying 2
The ‘Top 12’ cars qualify together in a ten-minute session
The fastest six cars advance to the Q3 ‘Quick Six’ final qualifying

Qualifying 3
The ‘Quick Six’ qualify in a ten-minute session to set the top six grid positions

This new format will also see FP2 taking on more importance, with a greater number of qualifying simulations expected due to teams having limited on-track time during each qualifying session.

While the introduction will undoubtedly bring fresh qualifying excitement for the fans, the news has also been welcomed by teams and drivers alike, with the endorsement of the change during the scheduled recent end of season teams meeting.

As of next year, the amount of power from the hybrid boost will be doubled. Will be done via a combination of hybrid and turbo boost levels. Should spice things up more so, given the hybrid boost did not have as big an effect this year at times.

As long as this prevents another year of Sutton dominance, that's fine.

A saloon ay? Nearly seems like a return of the 1992 Toyota Carina. I'm all for that! ;)

Edit: The weight would have to make it like a Lotus Cortina.

830kg/RWD saloon. That's got to be fun.
