Here we go, the press conference announcing the 56-cars lineup is starting now.

Twitter has gone crazy with rumours on just about every class, it'll be interesting to understand who goes where. Here the live stream, not sure if translation from french is available:

http://www.24h-lemans.com/

EDIT: Jean Todt speaking now, and yes, English translation is available 👍

No translation on the stream. People are probably better off listening to radio le mans as they're talking through whats being said in french making it a little easier to follow whats beimg said.

Mind if I create a full thread like last year?

Not sure if you are asking me because of this thread or asking the mods because of "thread-creating policies" but if you are asking me, please do, this thread is not meant to be a "catch all LM24H news here" thread. In fact I think that before the Race thread we will probably have a few more about LM related stuff, mainly cars and tech stuff (2013 Toyota, 2013 Audi, etc).

^^^noticed that too ... and only one Viper. very odd. Aston Martin racing has two cars and still one more as reserve.

The ACO might be compensating for the increased American presence in the form of the works Viper, but it is odd to have just the one Corvette.

Two works cars for every manufacturer in GTE Pro. 👍
LM P1 is a bit disappointing, but not surprising. Most teams are preparing for next year.

Nice looking LMP2 and GTE Pro fields.👍

Hopefully Toyota can put up a good fight this year.

Gonna be an epic Le Mans this year 👍 Good news all around.

That's more like it. :)

Looks like a promising race, I'm hoping we'll have a proper battle for the top spots between Audi and Toyota with no interference from Ferraris and Deltawings. Speaking of the latter, kind of bummed it's not coming back...

I kinda wish the deltawing was coming back too, oh well viper vs corvette totally makes up for it. Time to buy my tickets!

Furinkazen
Bet they return in 2014 though.

And 4 Astons. Screw the VIpers and Vettes mate :p

True! The Astons are incredible. You can feel the sound they make just as much as you can actually here them. Same for the Vettes actually.

And I hope Pescarolo returns. Le Mans will be lacking a little bit this year without his name above a garage.

Waiting for the 2014 regulations, no point in coming back for the old spec just for a year, so their concentrating resources on next years rules.

Porsche have a factory team anyway in the new 911.

Porsche have a factory team anyway in the new 911.

I meant purely in terms of LMP1, as per the question, but they are indeed fielding the new 911's this year too. Looking forward to see if they and the new Viper can match the 458's and Aston Martin's in terms of raw pace.

Pescarolo is likely never coming back. The team is done and has been given enough life-lines already.

Dome was a possibility for 2013 LMP1, but it seems it didn't happen. Hopefully they are back in 2014.

About who is on: AF Corse is running 5 cars, wow, 2 Pro and 3 Am. Hopefully the #51 can repeat as class winners.
