24 hour endurance races?

If you're the kind of obsessive fool like I am, and you've got a few days to spare (you'll need at least one to recover) then do it in one go. Just make sure you have plenty of coffee and snacks!

maybe i would think of doing the 24hrs in A-spec if there were things that get your attention up like weather conditions and perhaps most important: day turns into night wich will make for a fresh experience and then when you've driven through the darkness the sun comes up on the horizion and the sky is changing colors, suddenly 2 hours before the finish we get a small shower and you wonder if it's right to change to wets...

small details but they would add heaps to the overall experience of a 24hrs instead of the same situation and look lap after lap after lap for an entire day (+no good competition of the 5 AI opponents) wich is utterly boring, let's hope this will change for GT5...

Yeah that would be good - but 24hrs straight is a long time and pretty much everything becomes an interesting distraction - cats, phones, hallucinated elephants................

I just started the 24 hour 'ring im usin the jag race car..its doin just fine, im on b-spec and its at times 3 speed because someone with ADD cant sit that long..lol

How did you guys beat the 24 hour endurance races? did you just play all day then leave your ps2 on to go to sleep then again all day? i want that F1 car but i dont think ill have the patience to play for 24 hours :grumpy:
Nurburgring 24h: I used B-Spec and kept the speed at 3x. After every pitstop, I switched it back to 3x. It was a boring day, but at least the F1 car I got was orange, not white n' purple :yuck:

Sarthe ll: Used the same tactic, but did it until I got to hour 11, then slept for 9 hours. Then, I finished up the last 3 hours. Then, I got my Bentley 👍

I would have A-spec'ed it but i was dissapointed to see that it didnt turn into night so i b-spec'ed the rest of it.

If sony isnt going to try neither am i, realistic driving sim my ass 👎

It has been posited that the PS3 GT5 will not only allow day/night and weather change, but that it could allow day/night distinctions depending on your PS3 clock - so you could race on ANY track at ANY time of the day.

SSR11 during the day anyone? Test Course at night? Laguna Seca with the sun actually rising during the course of the race?

great stuff is it confirmed or do you mean that PS3 has the capability? this will make the overall experience far more exciting and original let's hope they put in some more endurance races on different tracks because there's too little of them in the game so far...and they should put in more 2 hours max. races also, medium endurance races like the F1 chaps drive.

i dont see what the prob;lem is here. If you want to do the nuremburg one and win it enter it in the nissan fairlady aquaired in the japenese laugue, enter the nurumberg track on b-spec stick it on 3 speed and you will b in the lead no problem. all you do is note the time it take before each pit stop, around 20mins real time so just come back and check on it every 20mins and no problesm, sorted!

Done it in B-Spec using the BMW M3 GTR Race Car. Super hard tires that only required it to stop every 8 laps. Just kept the overtake buton on the whole time so that the driver would get past the lapped traffic quicker. Easy win!

i did the enduraces B-spec, except the super speedway which i butted in for the last 20 laps to get the other cars off my ass. bob always seems to have trouble with the other cars bullying him around :(

I did all 3 24H in 100% A-Spec and I found that if I tried for personal bests at the splits and lap time and tried to lap 2nd place within a certain number of laps, including pit stops, etc., that it held sufficient interest for me. Sure, it's mundane at times but if I was always pushing as hard as I could go then it was not so bad. It's like sitting on a plane heading overseas or driving across country. Just get used to it and accept it and eventually you'll get there.

For me, I spend a great deal of time trying to find the best lines into and out of turns, especially ones where there is a huge penalty to pay if you miss and finding precise braking points is also I something that really makes it go by faster.

I'm doing the Fuji 1000KM right now and I really hated this track when I first started but now that I've found the precise braking points, it's really enjoyable, knowing that I'm not going to run off anymore.

Yep, finished Nurburgring 24h the same way, although I required pit stops every 5 laps (perhaps less aggressive camber would help, hehe). I was going to use the Minolta, but when I saw that only DTM cars, or their equivalent were lining up, I tweaked my M3 GTR race car and let 'er rip. I set the pace to 2 and left the overtake button on for the whole race. ... "all too easy" ... :D

Also, FWIW, my b-spec driver only had ~3600 points. I initially built him up by letting him get 4 easy victories with my ghetto Clio. Then I started b-specing the endurance events. The only time I got beat was when I ran Infineon with my Minolta vs a Sauber. :( Ah well, I came back to crush the Sauber at the oval, though, mwahaha!

What would make it a little more interesting driving for 24 hours would be if you the time of day actually changed and you had to drive through the night. I remember playing Le Mans on the dreamcast, i think there was a ps2 version too, and you had to drive through the night. You would notice the shadows changing, the lights caome on, twilight come and go and darkness fall. It was a different challenge driving through the night. I think I did 3 24 hr races, but being able save at pit stops helped greatly. Maybe next GT game will have it, I thought it was supposed to be realistic??? :indiff:

Once my A levels ( :yuck: ) are over ( )! I'm gonna be the biggest p***k ever and do one of the 24 hour races a-spec constantly playing it for as long as i can and I'll tell you what happens... hallucinations, changes in musical tastes etc!

I've done all of the Enduros 100% A-Spec except for the Roadster (ugh!), Motegi, Tsukuba and I'm 3/4 through Infineon. The three 24H ones were not that bad. I took about two weeks to finish each 24H race, averaging about 2-1/2 hours per day on the days that I was able to play (some days I just didn't have any time).

I went into Suzuka hating that course but now I find it to be OK, even sometimes enjoyable except for the S-turns which I was never able to master. That's a huge gain. NY, Route 246, Laguna and Fuji are really enjoyable courses for me so those were no problem, either.

I have a very time-consuming job, family obligations and basically no free time to play this, but you know what? I used something called sleep deprivation and somehow got through the enduros. Put the family to sleep and sneak into the den and start playing for a 2-3 hours. Sure, I got tired but for me, it's worth it.

Whatever you do, don't burn out and start hating the game. I was always conscious of this when I was playing GT2 and GT3 (and even some on GT) but I was always careful to get away from the game for a few days in order to recharge and make up for lost sleep.

I really like the game, the depth, the challenge and the reward, however little and trivial it is. Finishing the enduros in 100% A-Spec mode was what I challenged myself to do, even before getting 100% license golds because it looked so formidable and daunting when I first cracked open the game. The golds, while challenging and frustrating are actually easy to win if you persist, study and don't give up. None of them are impossible as long as you are willing to commit. Now that I've almost finished the enduros, it's becoming clear that 100% A-Spec enduros is a special club, just like 100% gold licenses are.

Good advice! I would do one of the Le Mans enduros at the same time as the real Le Mans 24hr was taking place and record whatever I can of it that's on the TV, but sadly I have an exam the next day, so I better not!

did mine 90% b spec on nurburgring still took me like 15 hours

i just wondered if any has done the circuit de la sarthe 2 race if so can you tell what car to use and i have done the nurburgring 24 hr it took about 8hrs 30 mins and ive done the formula gt championship

Here is the wisdom from someone who’s owned the game for about three weeks now. First run the endurance race at El Capitan. Take the prize car (the Minolta) give it an oil change, an optional stage 4 turbo, and some hard tires. You should win anything running away.

If that’s not good enough, take the Minolta to ‘the ring’ and set the b-spec to 2 before you go to bed. The next day, as time allows, set the speed to X3. I found that pit stops were close to every commercial brake. Repeat changing the speed until the end. Your prize car is the F1. The F1 is nearly unbeatable.

I’m running ‘the ring’ for the second time. I put Bob in the F1 and let him loose. He’s only getting two laps out of the med tires, but he’s flying. His first lap was a 6:20, second was a 6:26 with a pit stop. His third lap (clear of traffic and with fresh tires) was a 5:59. I know he could go faster if I messed with the settings. He’s only hitting 200 mph on the long straightaway.

I would caution that the PS2 can get a little warm when operational for 24 hours. I combat this by standing it on top of my Air Conditioning vent. Memorial Day weekend I had mine on for three days straight running the endurance races. It hardly got warm.
