So, I'm planning on running the 24 hour nurburgring race in A-Spec with a DS3 because I don't have a wheel

I ran a test lap with a test lap with a Mazda 787b, first on softs and the back tyres were gone half a lap in :scared:

I then ran mediums a lap and they were almost gone :indiff:, and then I ran a lap on Hards and they were slightly over half gone by the end of the first lap and I was running a close second. :nervous:

I also tried the Audi R8 Race Car (Team Oreca) but I didn't like its handling in the many turns. I kept sliding off course.

So my questions, has anyone with a DS3 run the 24 Hour nurburgring since they accelerated the tire wear? Does anyone have a recommended car tuning settings to give them maximum life?

Honestly, use the red bull if your just doing the race to get it over with. You will be soooo far ahead of the rest of the cars that you could pit without worrying about losing your position.

Why would you recommend that? He's going to be in A-spec...who feels like driving an X201- in Green Hell for 24 hours? Day AND night?

If I were you, I'd use an LMP with a lesser amount of horsepower, and drive with a high amount of traction control to save the tires. You never know when it can start raining. So the 787B is a good choice. Due to the 908's high low-end output, it spins tires too easily. I think no matter what car, what tire, what driving style, you'll be pitting in the same intervals due to the tracks length.

This is probably the only thing I don't like about GT5. Maybe half hour max for a set of tyres is bull****, so in a 24hr races your looking at 48 pit stops for fresh rubber. But unfortunately it needs to be done, I don't know what I'll be using for it though

I just did the 24 hour nurb in the x2011

on racing hards

had to pit in every 4 laps

actually ran out of gas every 4th lap. tires were pretty much gone by then.

after they nerfed the tires i dont think i'd use a normal car for this race

Not having a go at you, But this game has been out over a year now and these type of questions really have been asked dozens of times. If you use the search function you will find hours of reading what you would like to know instead of cluttering the place up with more of the same old stuff.

Wow that's harsh :) I thought it was a reasonable enough question, the new tire wears certainly haven't been around for over a year. And I haven't seen such questions taken specific to pad usage. But then again who am I to say, I haven't searched either lol.

Can't help much on the OP, I use a wheel. But in general pick a car with less torque, use moderate aerodynamics, and turn TCS on. I haven't tried the following myself but looking at the 2J's phenomenal performance in the current seasonals, that may be what I'll work on next.

Wasnt harsh at all, My first comment was " Not having a go at you". But the rest of my post is fact. Try doing a search and see whats available, it aint hard.👍👍:)

If you're worried about tire wear I'd recommend using the Bentley Speed 8, if you have it. It's much easier on it's rears than other LMPs and group C cars, and pound for pound is probably also the fastest along with the Audi R8. Run with stock engine power, don't over-tune it.

I haven't done any testing myself on tuning this car for endurance races, but Praiano's tune is usually a good place to start. I'd just raise both front and rear ride height about 20 due to the nature of the track, and lower brake bias to something low like 2/2 or so.

Set TCS and ABS to 3, and use racing hard tires. Don't push too hard and don't worry if you're not in the lead after lap 1. The AI wreck their tires just as much as you do but keep going too far before they pit, so on lap 3 you'll gain *minutes* when they're down to nothing on the rears.

I am running my 18 hours with the Mazda 787B, no turbo installed. I can go 1 lap with RS & RM and 2 laps with RH. And i use the DS3 also, and have set only the TC & ABS to 1, everything else off.

I run times around 8-8.15min on the RH, and when i pit after 2 laps, i only refull around 40-50L to save some time. But the Mazda is a good choice, specially when it gets pitch black, its headlights its really outstanding :)

Pitting almost every lap is going to annoying when I'm going to attack the nurb. PD really effed up with the tire wear rate.
