24 Hours of Spa (Now Finished)

Spa is over! And the Murcielago R-GT has driven it self to a close but great victory!
A Ferrari 575Maranello came only 2 seconds behind (1.487) followed by 2 993 Porsches and a Lister Storm.
An intense race, intense 24 hours, and a great win.
About 9 cars did not finish the race.
Its been a great race. 👍
We hope SimBin will release another 24 hour event as this one has been awesome.

So, instead of doing 24 Hours in GT4, I've decided to go a step farther and take place in the 24 Hours of Spa on GTR. I don't know how many of you have done this task, though.

Me, and my buddy, Micheal will be using a Momo Racing wheel, auto, and driving the Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT.

I am going to be bringing all of you an hour by hour race (if I can stay awake...) report. We've already gone through 2 Practice sessions, and have done out qualifying. We're starting 19th. We'll be doing a warm-up right before the race.

The 24 Hours of Spa will start Tuesday, June 14 at 7 AM.
Wish me and Micheal luck as we go in Simulation mode to take on the toughest event in GTR.

Ok, sorry for the late reply (got some sleep), but here's an overview

Hour 1 - We were pretty clean through the race until around 45 minutes into the race, a Storm got tapped from behind right behind. The front of Lister tapped our car but nothing bad.

Place: 17th

Hour 2 - Nothing exciting much except a few Ferraris having a good battle in front of us for about 14 laps.

Place: 14th

Hour 3 - Around Turn 16 (on the map), we got backed up from a spun out S7 Konrad. Nothing much else afterwards.

Place: 15th

Hour 4 - We dropped down 5 places after a Corvette came back on the course. We slowed down and went around slowly and got passed by 5 other cars who on the outside in the grass a bit.

Place: 21th

Hour 5 - We've reclaimed 2 places since then. 1 pitted, and 1 got into the gravel.
19th is about 3 seconds ahead. 1st, luckily, isn't as far as ahead as I thought.

i envy you :( if only my computer was powerful enough, oh well, i can wait till i earn money for one...

My best advice is to set the graphics and such on low or medium if your computer is just barely enough to power it.

I've decided to post every 2-3 hours to save some posting.

Hour 6: We're a battle for 17th now with a 360 Challenge who is not backing down. A few cars pitted and luckily, we got a few seconds ahead of them. But we'll have to pit in 4 laps or so.

Place: 17th.

Your Ram needs to be up over 300.

Hour 7 - Over 1/4th the way there. Nothing exciting.
Dropped 2 places since pit. End of the hour placed us

Place: 18th

Hour 8 - Regained 2 positions, and went under a breif yellow flag as a S7 spun of the course, into a wall, and back into a Porsche 993.

Place: 15th.

Hour 9 - Top 10 pit in. 12 and 13th drop down, and now bring us to 12th. Lost 1 position to passing Corvette.

Place: 13th.

Hour 10 - Major wreck brings up 4 positions at the 1st 20 minutes of the hour.
A 996 Porsche rear ended a Morgan coming out of the pits and taking a 550 Maranello, and a Seat.

Place: 9th

Hour 11 - Moved up 2, but dropped 3 due to a much needed pit. Luckily, got out of the pit faster than 4 others who drove by me later on to pit. 1st-6th are quite a ways away.

Place: 9th

We're closing in on the halfway mark and the sun sets and darkness comes even faster. Then sun is getting to a barely noticeable point.

Next report in 2-4 hours.
 
Hour 12 - Halfway through. We've moved up 2 positions and are about 8 seconds behind 6th.

Place: 7th

Hour 13 - The race is getting tough. Darkness is all around, and the track is not easy to see. We have rain to make it worse. And we've moved down to 8th.

Place: 8th

Hour 14 - Still raining, harder. We're still in 8th with 7th just right in front us.
Still pushing though.

Since there's 15 minutes left of Hour 15, I'll post the report. We've moved up to 5th since 6th pitted. Only 4 to go with 9 hours left.

Hour 16 - A major accident happened in which a Vertigo crossed right over our Lamborghini. We've just got back underway. So right now, I have to take over.
Next report may be after the race.

I'm not sure, but I think the setting's called Real.

This is cool, makes me wish my computer was better (and running) . I've only got:
1ghz Duron
384mb of PC100 SDram
Geforce 2 MX400 64mb
160GBs of HD space (oh yeah)

I've got DFP though so that's something.

Are you playing this on a wheel McLaren?

Here's the last report.

Hour 17 - Moved up to 3rd with 2nd at 7 seconds ahead. Still raining. Got yellow flag from a spun out car.
Place: 3rd

Hour 18 - Becoming a fierce battle between our Lamborghini and the 2nd Ferrari.
Lasted about 52 minutes with both us leading our share on the other.
Place: 2nd-3rd tie

Hour 19 - Pitted right behind the Ferrari with about 7.9 fuel left. Got out of the pits faster, but was passed by 2 cars.
Place: 4th

Hour 20 - Viper and Mosler in front are having a good battle. We haven't seen 1st so I hope he's not to far ahead. Still fourth with the rain starting to stop.

Hour 21 - Dawn is at the slight peak. The Viper pitted and we've got an intense battle with a Mosler who is getting away. We hope he pits soon.
Place: 3rd

Hour 22 - Mosler pits in and takes his time. Got out and took 2nd easily. Mosler was passed by 2 cars.
Place: 2nd

Hour 23 - The S7 in front is only 14 seconds ahead, but at the last 10 minutes of the hour, he pitted giving me a good advantage. Right now, he sits at just 4 seconds ahead.
Place: 2nd

With 30 minutes now left to go and the sun just up, the race should get intense.
Who shall win? Don't know, but right now, about 5 other cars have caught up.

Oh, a Momo eh. I should have read the intro in a bit more detail, apparently I missed that little bit of info. Congratulations on your hard fought victory 👍

I don't want to watch the whole thing of course but the last few laps might be interesting..from when you took the lead up to the finish.

Unfornately no I do not.

After completeling the race, and doing the final go around lap, I pitted, quit, and went to sleep.

Fantastic game.
However, the Add-on for King of Ovals isn't all that great. Accidents happen very easily on it.

Only 2 things have been brought out as Add-ons. 1's already with the game (Spa 24Hours) and the one you can download from their site King of Ovals.
Check the What's New daily if you get. Lots of fixes have been released.

its called the nordschleife and in brackets it says TheMother, it is apparently the best and its the 24hour version so i think it has the GP track built on....its only part way down but its not the first nordschleife that appears, its the second
 
For GTR to run proper and smooth you will need -

A minimum 2 gig processor the game is very CPU dependent (massive amounts of information used and generated)

At least a gig of ram

And a very good graphics card.

The game requires a standard of PC hardware that is not really available yet, - to run everything full on with all cars running at Spa (56) - the biggest track with most competitors.

I have a very high spec PC and still have to turn the options down a little, and can only get a smooth frame rate with about 20 cars on track. - well worth it though.

You can run with lower spec systems, but with a lot of options and eye candy turned off or down.
