How much is enough?!?
MacRumors
Reports that Apple will be hosting a special media event on September 12th began emerging yesterday. According to multiple reports, Apple will be hosting the event in San Francisco which will be also streamed live to London.

MacOSXRumors now claims that Apple will be revamping the iMac line with the new Core 2 Duo processor at this event, with the additional introduction of a 23" iMac.

Larger iMac form-factor rumors were amongst the reject rumors for pre-WWDC rumors. MacOSXRumors, however, cites "reliable sources" for this report and did have some accurate predictions for Leopard (virtual desktops, tabbed iChat).

Update: Appleinsider also believes that the iMac will see Merom updates in mid-September along with a 23" iMac model.

I would love for them to introduce a 23" Core 2 Duo iMac. I wouldn't necessarily be looking to purchase this particular iMac, but I would hope that it will bring the prices for the 17" and 20" down.

I'm torn between a MacBook and an iMac for my 3rd year of college. If they introduce a 23" iMac (and the price for the 17" and 20" lowers) then it will make my decision so much easier.

Mac people are copy cats with the Core 2's :p hhahahaa

23" Is a bit too much and it'll cost more than other people can usually afford. A 17" - 21" iMac would be fine imo.

Well, what else are they supposed to use? I don't think Intel would want to create a whole new chip just for Apple.

Well, my guess is that it will cost about $1900. Apple isn't trying to make the iMacs and Mac Pros for the average user like us. The people who would buy a 23" iMac are the type of people who buy the 20" iMac anyway. If you can afford a $1600 computer, chances are you can dish out the extra money.

Also, here's a video showing Safari 3's tabbing system. This seriously puts Camino and Firefox to shame.

That sure sounds sweet alright. I've already talked with Evan about how much I want a Mac :p , this just increases the need!

And by the way that tabbing system looks awesome.

Calm down there bud. No need to get snappy.

Umm, I wasn't getting hostile. I was just asking, since Opera is as crap as hell on a Mac, and since Matt has Opera as his default browser, I was asking him if Opera had the same thing. Sorry if I sounded angry.

Apple confirms Sept. 12th event

Apple today confirmed that it will hold a special event on September 12th to introduce new products and services. The company issued an invitation with the words "It's Showtime" with Hollywood movie premiere spotlights crisscrossing over and around the white Apple logo on a dark blue background. The event is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. local time at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco, California. Apple is expected to launch its new digital media strategy at the special event with a new 23-inch iMac, a widescreen video iPod, an iTunes Movie offering, and "one more thing," according to AppleInsider.

Sheesh, it seems like everyone is unveiling their goods this month.

Always take Apple rumors with a huge pinch of salt – they are usually either spot-on or completely off, and there’s no way to discern which. The only accurate rumors are the ones released about three hours before the keynote – those leaks are almost always 100% accurate, but then what’s the point if you’re going to see the keynote in a few hours anyway?

In conclusion, after keeping tabs on Apple for gawd-knows-how-many-years, I never allow myself to get excited about anything in the rumor mill. ;) Interestingly enough, the only time I ever visit rumor sites is to see their keynote feeds.

Well... we'll see. You owe me a tub of cookie dough if these rumors are correct though.

:p

Hey, I never said these rumors wouldn’t come true – just that I won’t get excited until they’re officially announced. ;)

EXCELLENT.

For the 17 incher, the 2.16 GHz processor is a 100 dollar upgrade as well.

And the 20 and 24 inch iMacs get a 250 dollar upgrade to 2.33 GHz as an option.

EDIT: And now there's a maximum of 3 GBs of ram.

Wow. I didn't expect it so soon. Someday I will own the 24"...

The 17" with Intel GMA950 is only $899 for me. I hope the whole "Apples are too expensive" excuse goes away.

It's great that they added the Bluetooth keyboard and Mighty Mouse set to the computers as an option as well. Buying them seperately would cost quite a bit more than $54.

See Duck, your rumors were wrong – 23 inches my foot. :p

Mmm mMMmm, that thing’s a beaut!

 Cookie dough, what an odd thing to owe.

You know you're in trouble when you have Toll House on margin.
