24H Le Mans Lan Party ESAC 2013

Introduction:

Well, were should I start guys? How about a good old fashion Hi?!
The reason I’m creating this threat is to share the experience me and a friend of mine will be having for the next 3 days. We will be participating in a Lan Party. It´s a 3 day event located at my school gymnasium and will be having 300-500 Players from all around the country. Most of them will be playing computer games (Like League of Legends, Counter Strike, Trackmania, etc.). We stay there from Friday to Sunday all day and all night! Those who stay awake the two nights, well, look pretty much like zombies at the end of the event! So what can Gran Turismo relate to this?

Well, we decided to take on the 24H of Le Mans in Gran Turismo 5! A challenge many players have completed but not us! What better place to do it right? When the idea started coming together, we went to work! We started the trainings in the begging of the year, trying every car capable of whining this race. From Premium to Standards we spent money, after money, after money, trying to find what car fitted our driving style better. I must point out that we are far from being the best drivers of this game. I can tell right away we will be having a hard race on our hands! We are not the best but that makes the race even more interesting! Back to the car choice, we bought the 1992 Peugeot 905 and fall in love with it right away. The engine noise, the stability, the power… everything pointed out to an approval and so it was! We will take it with no tuning what so ever (not mechanically or aerodynamically)!

Last year event photo, this should give you an idead about the place.

Me and my friend will be playing with some differences. I will take no driving aids (no ABS, no TC, or any other aids). He will have TC at 1 and ABS at 1. We managed to get an average of 3:31:000 around La Sarthe!
The Material we will be using is a very big SD TV (Yes I know, very old school), our PS3 (of course), and GT5 (of course x2). We sadly didn´t managed to get a headset for the Ps3 so we will have difficulties with the sound (300+ People = Very Loud Place).

One of the many training and testing sessions we had...

So I just wanted to introduce this event to you guys I will be updating through the next days with thoughts, race reports, news, photos, everything! I didn´t post this on the Race Report Section because it is way more than that. It is a big experience that goes way beyond a race report. I want everyone to enjoy reading this topic the way we will enjoy writing it!

The Event:

Sorry I was so late to make a full review about the event. I had to get some rest and collect all the files needed to make a good report. To start of let me introduce myself and my mate.

The weather was threatening to rain, whoever the there was a lot (a really mean a lot), people waiting to do check in. At 6PM our stuff was all connected and working including our TV and Ps3.

THE START:

7PM-5AM: We raced for a total of 8H on the first night (if I`m not mistaken), we paused the game to go get some dinner and resumed the raced for a few more hours. We were fighting to get past the Audi R8 with decent time. Many guys passed by us asking what we were doing. When we said we were doing a 24H Race many called us crazy. We accepted that has a complement! We decided to get some sleep before getting through the second night so we suspended the race and went home!

Do you have the RA functions set-up on the controller/wheel as to change the TCS and ABS when you switch who drives?

I was looking for where it said this but I couldn't find it.

So wait it's a 1 on 1 24 hour race like from said above?

Well I don't know. It said he would be using 1 TV, "our PS3" and GT5 "(x2)" and he mentions headsets. So it's a bit unclear - have to wait and see when he replies.

Sounds like an interesting endeavor! I'm also unclear of what they're going to do.. 1 on 1 for 24 hours doesn't sound like fun to me.. 24 hours together in A-spec would be cool..

No it won`t be 1v1. We will take the A-Spec race doing (we have not clearly decided yet), 1:45H stints. Sorry for not making it clear :/ We will use Ra functions so we can change the driving aids. The event will start in about 8H ;)

EDIT: We are using a DS3`s (Mine and his since we have different ones, i will post pics of the controllers at the event)
