Though i never liked the LMP lineup for Nurb 24h i wanted to do it in a GT car. My first choice was the vette C6 Z06 RM, but after the Honda HSV got its first soundupgrade i chose to go with that one.

I tested the HSV in practice for a few laps and noticed the great cornering abilities but also the lack of topspeed, so i installed engine +3 and the mid range turbo to gain horsepower.

After those modifications my HSV was ready: 642 HP (634 PP) on racing softs but still a poor topspeed (Döttinger Höhe barely reaching 310 km/h).

The lineup:

01. GT by Citröen
02. R8 LMS
03. Pagani Zonda LM
04. Ford GT LM (the old one)
05. Lister Storm V12
06. Mclaren F1 GTR
07. weider HSV-10 (me)
08. R8 LMS (Team PS)
09. Dunlop ER34
10. Corvette C5-R
11. Audi R10 TDI
12. Peugot 905 race car

My strategie was to go 4 lap stints, then refuel only the burned fuel.

Race start:

1. lap: 8:37:328
Sunny and dry start, allready takeing first position on the first lap also gaining a 9sec lead, but a spin lets me cross the start finish line in 2nd place behind the Mclaren F1 GTR:

2. lap: 8:25:822
Over pushing myself, so i spin again
and the Peugot 905 blasts by. At the start of lap 3, i am in 3rd place behind the 905 and F1 GTR.

3. lap: 8:21:759
Overtaking the F1 GTR to gain 2nd place. Later that lap i got a little gravelrun, still stayed 2nd.

4. lap: 8:43:974
Sloppy me missing the pitentry and crashing heavy into the left pitbarrier,
refueling 40l. Also the now 3rd placed car Audi R10 TDI made its first pit stop.

5. lap: 9:00:013
With fresh tires i overtake the 905 on that lap (he also will pit in at the end of this lap), but the R10 TDI is right on my tail.

6. lap: 8:11:309
Pushing hard to gain a gap from the R10 TDI. I know now that the two LMPs (905, R10) are about 2 secs faster on Döttinger Höhe. My lead at the end of this lap is just 1 second.

7. lap: 8:26:505
My two spins pushed me back to 2nd place, the R10 TDI now 8 seconds in the lead.

8. lap: 8:25:719
The R10 TDI and me both drive into the pits.
I roll past him in the pits, refuelling 50l. While pitting the 905 and F1 GTR cross the start finish line, putting me back in 3rd.

9. lap: 8:58:768
I gained a bit of time through the pit stop over the R10 TDI, i hunt down the F1 GTR gaining 2nd place again.

10. lap: 8:11:321
Taking the lead from the 905 wish is in the pitlane

11. lap: 8:20:902

12. lap: 8:27:452
Pit in, refuelling 50l. The 905 crosses the start-finish line while i still get fuel.

13. lap: 9:04:662
Lapping the C5-R but hit the gravel in the righthander before Fuchsröhre. The leading 905 is now 17 seconds infront.

14. lap: 8:08:650
About 6:60 minutes into the lap, i overtake the 905 for 1st place but he takes the lead back on the start-finish straight.

15. lap: 8:24:820
I missed the breaking spot after the start-finish line but can still battle with the 905 for the lead, his tires seems to have gone. Me back in 1st.

16. lap: 8:43:773
Big tiretrouble and nearly out of fuel
, get a few offtracks, lapping the R8 LMS (Team PS). The R10 is back in the fight, overtaking me, we both pit and i refuel 70l. Once again the 905 blasts by the pits for the lead.

17. lap: 9:08:130
I am able to take the 2nd place from the R10 TDI, now 10 seconds behind the leading 905.

18. lap: 8:19:067
Lapping the Lister Storm V12, catching and overtaking the 905 at Brünchen but have to feel the pure LMP power as they both (905 and R10 TDI) blast by me on Döttinger Höhe.

19. lap: 8:37:011
Loss of concentration leads to many crashs,
i decide to pit in for tires and 30l fuel.

20. lap: 8:48:716
Regaining the lead
while the 905 and R10 TDI are in the pits

21. lap: 8:05:223
Lapping the GT by Citröen on Döttinger Höhe (with a bit drafting)

22. lap: 8:27:460
Pit in for tires and 40l fuel also changing pit strategie to 3 lap stints. R10 TDI and 905 take 1st and 2nd place.

23. lap: 8:50:637
Running down the 905 to gain 2nd again

24. lap: 8:07:030
Able to get the lead and a 8 seconds gap.

25. lap: 8:12:292
Pit
in tires and 40l fuel

26. lap: 8:52:005

Terrific racing well done. It reminded me when I did the Nurburgring 4hour with me in the Lexus Wwdsport IS350 against the Audi R8 LMS and the Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo. Have you tried doing it with more LMP?

I thought 2 LMP opponents are quite enough :sly:

Might be right but if you beat them by 1 min then your ready for more. I'm trying to get the S2000 GT1 Turbo, R8 LMS, CT230R and the IS F in the same race but it has never happened. :(

You are right, in the end the HSV was to strong. I have to admit, the 4hrs Nurb race is so much more fun to drive then the 24hrs.

wow, nice race report, and with a lot of info! Congratulations! Pretty awesome battle on the start. I wanted to do this in a HSV as well, but wasn't able to buy the DLC. Well done, mate.

Cool thing with the HSV is, if you drive bumper cam, you can imagine it's a motorbike :D

And another thing i noticed: If you suspend and rejoin the race, you get a "new" and "clean" car again.

The HSV topspeed problem could easy be fixed with installing a high rpm turbo, but then you have to detune it via powerlimiter.

How can i suspend my lemans 24 hour race. i havr the latest update but start menu only shows regular options.

1. Go to pit lane
2. In the Pit options go to the bottom right corner which says "suspend race".
:) Good luck at le mans though.

The AI loses the most time in the pits, cause they allways refuel their cars to max. If they would refuel just as much as they need, the endurance races would be a lot more challenging.
