No...
I don't know exactly what they are doing with the GT class this coming season so I won't say GT1 and GT2. But the 24 Hours of Le Mans in GT5 should have the GT cars and the LMP cars in seperate classes. Theirfore all those slower cars like the C5 Race car, Storm V12, ect. don't have to directly compete with the LMP's. This would make doing the race multiple times more enjoyable (You could do it once in an LMP and go for the overall victory or use a GT car and try to beat cars simular in performance to yours for a victory in your class.) quit simple acually 8 cars would be GTs and the other 8 would be LMPs. If you enter in GT car and win you class you get say (random could be any amount of $$$).. $450,000. If you enter in a LMP and win your class + the overall victory you get say.. (Again, random) $1,000,000 for overall and $450,000 for winning your class. This way entering in a slower car of your choice still would give you a chance at getting good prize money and a feeling of accomplishment knowing you came "1st" instead of just being 8th.

I agree 100%

One of the things I was looking forward to was recreating a split 8 GT car, 8 LMP car field when they announced that Circuit de la Sarthe was going to have day/night change and weather change.

It would be nice if PD would actually put all those lovely GT cars to use.

Exactly what I'm getting at. :) I mean we COULD do this online but I don't think people would stick around nor would the unstable online enjoy having 16 people playing on the same server for 24 hours straight.

When GT5 was in development I was really hoping these series rules were going to be implemented. I remember reading that Kaz said he was going to try and implement as many Nascar rules as possible, yet this hasn't happened at all.

I agree 100% this would make the race much more enjoyable and actually make these events (Super GT, Le Mans, Nascar) unique from the other GT events.

Yeah isn't that what they also do in the Super GT500/300 in Japan?

That's something I had thought a while ago too. They also need to separete between LMGTP's (Say, GT-ONE, R390, CLK-GTR), LMP1's (R8, R10, 908 HDi), Group C's (XJR-9, C9, R89/92C, 787B), and classic LM Cars (The new Mark IV, 330 P4, and please PD a Porsche 917).

This could also be extended to other championships/races. I liked that in GT2 there was a GT300 and a GT500 tournament, while in GT4 it was a bloody mess of GT300 losers and GT500 cars.

👍

I really don't enjoy racing the formula or LMP cars too much, so I would definitely rather it be this way. I was hoping that there'd be some enduros that you could enter with any car and the game would assign certain competitors that match up to your selection. Kinda like the Arcade mode in Prologue. La Sarthe is my favorite track but to win, I have to use a car that I really don't enjoy driving.:indiff:

Before we can have split class racing, we are going to need a race end timer that is MUCH longer than 30sec.

The way things now are leaderboarded, the GT class would NEVER get to know who won, because the race would come to an end before the lead GT car even made the checkered flag. Possibly podium position could come from who was in front at the time the lead prototype is checkered, but it's still not the same, really.

Don't forget, many ALMS events are WAY less than 12 or 24 hrs.

To be honest, the race end leaderboards need a MAJOR re-think. Important information (your fastest lap vs. your last lap time, for instance) gets knocked off the screen REAL fast, and replaced by total race time and finishing order. No chance to review it. Then the 30sec. race end needs an optional extend end time window for just this type of situation.

In one of the races I noticed there were 2 LMP cars thrown in with the GT cars. The LMP cars were way ahead after just the first lap. I restarted the race and this time there was only one LMP car. This brings up a serious issue for me. Why are the opponents randomized? This means I might have to run against LMP cars to win but another player might get off easy?

It highlights one of the problems with GT5, many times there's a car that is significantly better than the rest which means the player has to make a car that cannot only match it but exceed it by quite a margin because you may have catch it up if it (or they start at the front). It makes the rest of the grid merely obstacles to get around.

Earlier I was racing on a server where the race end timer was a minute and a half. I've no idea if you can change it or if it was just a weird bug.

I also agree with the rest of what you said. Comparing best laps gives really good insight when trying to figure out if the cars are balanced.

I'm Glad the 24 Hour Races are for LMP and Group C Cars thats what Le-Mans is about 👍

My B-spec Bobs are doing the Le -Mans 24 Hour Race right at this moment and anything less than a R8 Audi and you can forget winning it .

2 Hours in and they've got a almost 2 min lead .

Tried it in 4 Different Cars and none of them were quick enough .

Only thing now is I swear Bob is giving me the Finger as he Passes the pits , he is getting Wet in the Rain

OK8

Yeah dude you can change it, :30... 1:00.. 1:30 ect. Most people have it low so they don't have to wait for people/cars that are far behind.

They did put this featurein as a test I beleive. Those of you that are at high enough level, will notice, when you're at the final Top Gear Test Track Challenge, the Kubelwagen (Can't spel it correctly), You'll notice you're runing eith 5 or 7 other machines in you're pack, and then there are another 6-8 Schwimmwagens that are coming from the opposite side of the track at the same time, as if they are having their own race (notice that the game doesn't grade you against them). Its the first hint of multi-class racing in GT I have ever seen. if you don't beleive me, check for yourself.

I totally agree. In GT Allstars, you are basicaly obligated to buy a Group C car or LeMans Prototypes to beat the at least two or three cars of this same category in the championship. It would be cool if GT1, GT2 and GT3 could race at the same time with the Group C and LMP cars as in real life, but running against their own class.

Thats a good example. I don´t know why they didn´t implement it in other races. I´ve been expecting this since the first Gran Turismo.

@Antonisbob I swear you are my twin brother seperated at birth XD I was thinking exactly the same thing just the other day. I mean, if GRiD had a simular(ish) system, how hard can it be for PD to do it 10 times better?

If I were them though, I'd take it one step further. How awesome would it be, if you selected the 24 Hours of Le Mans under Endurance series, and you had a selection of the following: A-Spec; B-Spec; A+B-Spec. So say, I want to do it alone, but I'm not at all willing to do the entire 24 hours on my own, so I select 2 of my B-spec drivers to fill in the missing 2 seats. (Or only select 1 B-spec Bob, while me and a mate fill in the 2 empty seats...)

Another thing (And this counts for the ENTIRE GT5) is qualifying. Have 2 rounds. One in the day, and one in the night. If all that happens, I'd happily become a GT5 hermit. XD

I feel as if PD could have gone all out with the Le Mans with GT5. And instead, they did nothing.

GRID did this well. All cars competed in the same race, but there were induvidual prizes. GT1,2 and 3 all had seperate rankings, and so did LMP1 and 2. The higher the class you were, the higher the 1st place prize would be.

Exactly. I'd be more than happy if they only add 2 classes to the Le Mans, for example LMP and LMGT. Having four classes in GT5 isin't going to work out well, seeing as there aren't any LMP2 cars in the game... XD

Its true in the gt500 and gt300 that essentially there is no events.for the gt300s. Same on endurance races gt is the game with all the cars and no events to race them in.

I was talking about this with my mates just the other day. I don't like using cars that instawin races, being able to pick a gt2 or gt1 car for the lemans or the ring 24hr would be great.

That's why I wanted the point system from Prologue in GT5, this way they could've made several classes, PP700 for LMPs and PP500 for GT cars for example. The cars now don't have any classes programmed, so they couldn't split it, how should the game know what's a GT car and what a Prototype?

I think they need to make the endurance race a true endurance race to begin with......

I've done a coupe endurance now and even some against real humans, my conclusion of the current state of endurance racing in GT5 is that it is just an extended sprint race.

Why? You might ask.

As you have no control on initial fuel load, there's no fuel strategy in the first two hours of racing, as you are just trying to burn alway the full tank of fuel. And because the tire wear and grip trade off isn't balanced, the softest tire always wins, hence tire strategy is out of the window too. Damage exists, but you don't lose time in the pits when trying to fix the damage, making it a very minor problem. And with no brake wear, engine wear etc. you can pretty much drive flat out all race as long as you don't make a big mistake, it makes endurance racing completely pointless.

There needs to be more variables, more strategy and choices between pace and consistency to make it worthwhile.
