Those that have or currently doing the 24 hour A-spec race my question to you is: How do keep your attention level? I'm 12 hours in driving a Toyota GT One, 4 laps up and this is about the most boring and grinding thing to date I done on GT5 and staying on task is a bit maddening. Everything will be just fine and good and bang in the wall! Then back to a good stint. Lather-rinse-repeat. Comments.........

Save the race and come back later. Let your eyes and mind relax for a while.

If you repeatedly wreck and still find yourself in the lead then it's too easy. Generally, I choose a car that has less PP rather than one that obliterates the competition no matter how well/poor you drive.

I know it's a long race to endure to only come in 2nd, but I'd rather keep the race tight than lap the field and fall asleep doing it.

I tried to keep improving my best lap time. Then it did get boring and was well over halfway done, in the lead 8 laps ahead. So I started cutting the chicanes on the long stretch to see how fast of a lap I could get. That made it fun for awhile.

It is a test for sure, the long long straights then a frantic few seconds in a chicane where you can make a few tenths up... but much more of a chance to lose a few seconds if you mess up.

I guess you just have to focus your mind and get disciplined. Once you know your brake markers and turn in points it is just that relentless push to perfection.

If it is getting dull you can spice the drive up with altering the brake bias.
If it is getting too hard you can turn on the driver aids... a dab of ABS can make a hero out of any driver.

Play a stint with a "Mechanical Issue" - maybe the car won't drop down into 4th gear - so you have to manage the stint in 5th and 6th gear.

Maybe the front brakes have overheated and the Rear brakes are locking up as a result

Alter the brake bias in the RA menu by dropping the front Brakes by 3 points and add 3 points to the rear... this will make a very - evil handling car under brakes... (If you run with ABS removed of course)

Fuel issue - make that tank of motion lotion last as the pits have told you their is a problem with the re fuelling rig and you will have to stretch out the stint for an extra lap than normal...
If that is too easy - maybe you have to stretch it out another lap.

Tyre issue - Fit Race Soft/Race Hards at a stop and try to make the best of what will be a tail happy car.

Let you imagination go a bit and have a bit of a play.

Most fun I had was trying to get the tyres to last as long as I could... with no driver aids and the brake bias at a silly 4/7 - like driving on eggshells.

Felt very nice to put the car back to normal and blitz the next stint with the original settings (4/2 brakes I think)

Done all. Did 2 2hour stints. Put sorts on and do hot laps. Slow down draft the AI. I'm too far in to it to lower HP and I thought had it lowered just right to keep in the mix? Took out one my brand new Praiano "tweaked" tuned GT One's and it just kept making more power! Been at 40 A-Spec, 39 B-Spec and finishing out the last three endurance. The Ring and 1000 Suzuka left. Credits, cars and seasonals.

With this setup I can only get 10 laps Max with 3L of fuel, but plenty of tire left using the Race Hard.

Cutting all the chicanes and corners with a best time of 3:12:Xxx so far?

La Sarthe is a fairly easy track to do quick laps. Once you've got the car sorted so you can brake all the way into the first right hand 90 degree corner and soft enough to grip on the bumpy surface you can easily get bored with it. Driving it for 24 hrs is a chore and, without the chance of mechanical failure, (As is the issue with the real race.) boring.

I do like a shorter race on the track , but the 24hrs was a plain grind, which I won by several laps when I did it.

I'm busy with this for the 2nd time. The first time I used the Pug 908 & won it too easily. This time I'm using the Ford test car & my goal is to finish 6th, which it looks like I'll manage. Having a slower car means you're in the mix more, getting passed by the faster cars quite regularly. It's also quite good fun seeing how long you can keep up with them. This all helps me keep on my toes. Also trying to set consistently quick laps.

Next time I might use a Viper & detune it a bit to dice it out with the guys at the back... :)

I think if there more than 11 others cars on the track would make it less of a grind! Maybe in the next GT? Trust me I dreaded doing these, that's why I waited this long! I can play GT for 6 hours or more usually because of constant change. This is just awfully painful, but too far in it now. 8 hours to go and counting.

I just don't have the free time in a day to drive more than an hour, but I'm going to give it a go knowing it will take me close to a month to finish.

FINALLY! Finished last night. 402 laps, +15 laps over second(R8), 3:09:905 hot lap, ZERO rain and I'll never do it again. BTW, I drove Sarthe better and faster in the dark ;-)

Well done.

Fast driving in the dark - a guy on GTPlanet who rides bikes down hills at night explained it well as you have less visual clutter - so you focus on the things you need to drive... I was faster at Night too.

Welcome to the club, seems like most everyone runs fastest at night, not sure why. Can't believe your luck on a full dry race, I have run it five times and had rain every time, once with about twenty hours of it!

It was clouding up at the 21 hour mark(noon) and I was hoping for rain to break up the monotony and NO PRECIPITATION FOR YOU :irked:

Am about to start that one, just after the 9 hour one. Have done the 24hr with 2 other guys as a team on an online event for a car magazine. Interesting this time around having to go all the way alone.

Congrats! I'm fastest when I'm just a little tired and the track is dark. When I'm a little tired I don't really think about anything, I just kind of zone out and that's when I put in the fastest laps.
